17' or 18" rims?

Ok I need some good advise. I am looking to buy some new rims for my GTS, would 17" or 18" rims be better for every day driving. As performance is concerned which would be better.

Typically there's less risk of wheel damage for a 17". Also, since 17's weigh less than 18's (if you're comparing the same models) they'll help performance. Mine car is still a daily driver and I have 17's.

What size tires would you recommend on 17" rims?

215/40 matches up almost perfect! But 215/45 there is so little difference it doesn't matter and a little more cushion for the rim!
