View Full Version : Alignment specs when lowered?
Hey Guys,
so i went to firestone today to get an alignment, and they said since my car is not factory lowered, i will need to get the right specs for the drop or suspension system installed so they can align it / adjust it to what it needs to be.
Anyone have any background on this?
i'm on Tein SS.

i went to get an alignment after lowering on eibach prokit. my rear looked off. it was put on a machine and the measuring things attached onto the wheels. everything was in spec except the rear. camber was off by about 1 degree. they should just enter the year, make, model and factory degree specs should show up. if anything is out of spec then they should adjust it to spec. on the screen is usually shows 4 corners and green if in spec and red if out of spec. thats my experience.

I had always figured they should be able to find out the alignment specs, I never had a place ask me to find the information out. Why can't they just use the stock alignment and go from their?

camber front and rear should be -1.1...i had eibach sportlines and the rear was at -2.4 i had camber links and they adjusted them back to -1.1 never ate a tire....correct me if im wrong but when you lower a car only the camber gets affected mostly?????

tell them they need to set the alignment back to the factory settings. but i know wat they realy ment when they told u that, it was just a nice way of telling u that they dont want to align the car because its been lowered./

I've been told that before and I'm only on Tein S-Techs!! I was adamant on getting an alighnment and used my linguistic skills to basically say "your full of sh!t, get your ass back in there and align my car." They were persuaded but after an hour I got a call and they said they can't get my rear camber back to the stock specs...I said my cars only lowered 1.4...then in a polite way I told them that if they couldn't do it I'm not paying for it even after they did the front and alil in the rear. They bit again and finally 2hrs later my car was perfectly aligned lol

Are you sure they didn't just give up on the rear? After getting the idea that they couldn't align the rear, I would have taken my car elsewhere.

i had a place around here do that. i took it back to them after getting the alignment checked by another shop, hours after they were done because you could VISUALLY see the camber was still way negative. they fabbed numbers to make me think it was all squared up. i was a little mad to say the least. as for numbers, ill see if i can dig mine up from my last alignment. the camber i believe is still a bit negative on the sheet, but the numbers i believe show oem tolerance numbers.

im lowered on skunk2 and my rears are about -2.2 each. they couldn't adjust it anymore without the camber link. anyone know what i should leave the toe at, cuz they said my camber shouldn't wear out my tires with 0 toe.

Hey guido, how low are you? I didn't think you were THAT incredibly low.

I'm seriously considering TRD springs to drop my car 1.2" or so. I have a "Lifetime alignment' contract with Firestone as well, and wonder if I too may see this and or have issues with alignment.
I'm doing the springs myself, then taking the car to them for my quarterly alignment. I'm not going to advertise to them my car is not lowered, but I'm curious. TRD "IS" Toyota OEM.....NO??;)

as for TRD springs? consider that it has a 1.2 inch drop like my eibach pro-kit. i issues when i wanted to get my rear aligned. with a 1.2 inch drop. it was noticeable from looking at it from the rear. just a heads up;)

How is it noticable? And how does it affect handling and tire life?
Is there a cure? Fix or adjustment? (add part, mod etc..)

Just tell them the springs are OEM because technically the are OEM. They are black and look like stock so maybe they won't even notice. I wouldn't even mention it and see if they say anything. If the shop is worth a damn it will not matter though because with that small of a drop it should be easy to get into spec. I have a 2.5" drop and my local shop got my alignment into spec so you should be fine.
