i had a couple of questions about the exhaust i have on my 2zz.
1.i have a 3" exhaust all the way back to the rear tires and then put a 3" flange on my 21/4 pipe so they would mount up together because its too loud i just did this temporarly until i get a 3" muffler curious on how much power im losing and if this can effect my engine or t28 turbo i have on it. also if i was racing it hard could it cause damage?
2. i have a t28 turbokits.com turbo with 3" piping curious if i would get the same power out of a 21/5 piping?

why would it richen?
well for example if its tuned with a 3" then changed to a 2.25
gotcha. i think he is doing it the other way...he has a 2.5" and wants to move to a 3" so it would make his run leaner?
I don't get the obsession with 3" pipes. I have a 3" downpipe, 2.5" midpipe, and a 2.25" muffler.

Sound... i ran 3" downpipe and mid pipe with a 2.5" axle back for a while and when I switched to a 3" axle back (both with straight through glass packs) my tone got alot deeper.
oh...well my exhaust is practically dead quiet, just how i like it.

3" all they way back. 3" spiral flow resonator and a modified Greddy Evo 2 canister opened up to 3" to flow straight through.

is it possible to cut a 21/4 muffler to make it into a 3" and keep the things inside that will still muffle it. Will that work?
You can't magically expand the core of the muffler without damaging stuff. You CAN get a shop to widen the inlet and outlet from a 2.25" to a 3", that's doable, but the inside will still be 2.25" if thats how it was designed (straight through).
If you want quiet, go with a smaller pipe.
I run a 3" downpipe, 2.5" midpipe with a louvered glasspack that is probably shot (all the packing is gone) and the 2.25" apexi worldsport muffler. my car is a tad bit louder than a stock g35/350z exhaust. Best part is, it doesnt drone on the freeway.

my exhaust is too quiet now lol but straight pipe would be too loud for me i just want the exhaust a little louder than the engine because thats all i here when i rev it up.i have the muffler box connected to it, that came with my apexi pipe what can i do just to make it a little louder?
I have a 2.5" borla muffler, brand new in box that I'll sell yo if you want. It's the borla XR-1 series, they are decently loud and really really deep. I used to have it with my supercharger but sold it and then bought it again when I installed the turbo but then i got an apexi WS at a steal and i love how quiet it is. I do miss the borla at times but the quietness is just too nice to pass on.
