a guy is selling me 18" wheels with good front tires and bad rear tires..

i would buy these wheels but the rear tires have uneven wear from his car being lowered due to poor alignment

the rear tiers have UNEVEN wear: the outside of the rear tires are good, the inside is bad...

are these tires bad to drive on? is it unsafe? will my handling be affected?

any opinions would be appreciated

Can't tell you without seeing the tires.

You could also mount the "back" tires up front, then you would have bad front tires.

What kind of car are the wheels off of?

Look at the tires, there are wear bars that go between tread blocks. If the tread is worn to these bars, then it is safe to assume that they are worn out and should be replaced.

the wear of the rear tires are uneven....meaning that the inside of the rear tires is worn but the outside still has good tread,,,,,

they are off a celica too

he said this happened because he didnt get an alignment done when he lowered his car...

I know it is uneven wear. I twon't hurt much to have uneven wear, unless one side is worn to the point of being unsafe.

So, go look at the tires, and see if the wear bars are showing on the inside of the tread. new on the outside and half worn on the inside is fine, not ideal, but it will work for a good long time. if the insides are worn through to cord, thenno it isn't OK.
