So I tried to put one of my back wheels today and now one of the lug bolts is spinning. Meaning I guess that the lug has broken free from the whatever it's tacked to. Anybody know before I try and get the wheel off what the setup is on the rear wheels of the GTS ?. Are the lug bolts attached to the rotor and I'll have to get a new rotor ? Or are they attached to a hub that the rotor fits over. I really hope it's just the rotor I have to replace. Getting a rear hub would be difficult to find in my area. Also the only way I can think of to get the spinning lug nut off is to use a nut splitter to try and break the nut off. Unless someone has a better method ?

The threaded stud is pressed into the hub, if the threads are stripped, you can either hammer it out and put a new stud in, or re-thread it. I'm not sure if you have to take the hub out for replacing the stud though. Are you sure its not just the lug nut that's messed up?

its def in the hub, and i think youd have to take the hub out to replace the stud. is there really enough clearance in there to remove the stud w/o removing the hub? and you can find em on ebay for $120 for a pair of bnib hubs if you REALLY need them. should just be able to replace the stud though.
i wouldnt rethread it if its stripped. youll need a diff sized lug, or youll just have reeeeeally weak threads. id just snag a new stud. again, assuming its the stud, and not the lug

to replace the stud all you have to do is take the wheel off remove the brake caliper disengage the parking brake find a coupl of bolts that fit the two holes on the front of rotor to pop it loose. remove the rotor. remove the stud. it takes a little fishing but can be done without removing anything else. put the new stud in fishing it through put the lug nut on it yank on it a couple of times to seat it put everything back together and you'll notice you have to keep turning that one but it will seat completely. done this a couple of times

Well, to replace it you are supposed to remove the hub and have the new one pressed in. But if you just remove the brake caliper and rotor, you can get the new stud in through the back, then put a thick washer or a big nut over the stud and screw a lug nut on it until the lug nut contacts the washer, then use an impact gun and gun the lug nut on until it pulls the stud into the hub and the back part of the stud lays flat against the back of the hub. put it back together and voila! I've gotten the whole procedure down to about a 5 minute job. lol. Careful though because sometimes when you're gunning it on it damages the lug nut, so I usually use a different one than I actually intend to use on the car.
