hey guys toyota tols me today that i ahve a blown motor water and coolant are in the engine. a rep from alifornia is going to gcome here to ny to look at it since it is leased. the tech from toyota told me that because i have an intake on that may have caused water to get in it, but for the coolant he said maybe a gasket or the block it self, with the guy from california looking at it today do you think that this will be covered under warranty or not. iff not it will cost like 5gs they said or more. am i screwed or what
dfess1
07-09-2002, 09:11 AM
No, they are gonna try and blame the intake as being the reason that it blew. If there's an intake = You like to race = misshift = you lose. At least that's toyota's logic.

07-09-2002, 09:26 AM
they but i never misshift and i only have 22,505 miles on the car, so they can't say that cuz the car is very clean and everything looks like a show car more that a race car

and your point is...
55 haha
07-09-2002, 10:42 AM
my point is that i don't beat on my car and that it was not fault that the motor blew and the aftermarket parts had nothing to do witht he motor blowing, but they are going to try to say that the parts are the reason and its not the reason so i am going to get screwed

blown head gasket maybe? If so that shouldn't cost anywhere NEAR 5g's. Maybe 1g at the most.

If you can take the battery off and it will reset the chip you have in your car. The chip in your car tells toyota lotts of info and it ceps track of how you shift. I broke a rod in my car and just got it back 2 weeks ago and thay paid for everything I even had all the mods on my car. dont cry it will be ok

I just went in there and told them straight. I know I have mods on my car, but I also know that its illegal for you to deny any warranty on the car without being able to show me and prove that one of my mods caused the problem. Now we can either do this the easy way, or do it the hard way.
Just be blunt with them and they shouldn't give you much problems. Let them know that there is a hard way. ;)

Exactly. I took my car in for service and had ALL my mods on the car. I didn't bat an eye about it. I even opened the hood and showed them the engine bay and the intake. They didn't even ask me about it.

Yeah, but you don't see hundreds of 'stang owners blowing up their cars from mis-shifts, do you? A lot of really young people drive Celica's and are learning stick for the first time on the 6-speed. Not saying that everyone who learns on the car will blow it up, but it sure has happened a lot.
BTW, remember that "FORD buttstain" comment when a Cobra toasts you like no tommorrow. That's one fast "buttstain" :)
You gotta be cool, that's what makes the Toyota boards popular with non-toyota owners. Most of us here are real cool people. You, on the otherhand, sound like a "stereotypical" rice boy. Why don't you go by a Civic and stick a bunch of stickers on it. I am sure you will find more of your kind in that crowd.

Ill tell you what, we will set up a friendly budget. You go out and purchase your $30-40k+ cobra and give me that same budget and I will buy a civic. Ill even smack on $10K worth of stickers, which I hate, on the back of it in representation of rice boys. :) When Im good and inducted we can put down 5K on a rice, i mean a race, record and digitize it then post it to show how cool you really are, stereotypical Corn Boy. If you cant afford, Ill design a simulation so we can do it over the net, with no bugs.
PS: youll be lovin my stickers for reading material when you have to follow me the whole way to the finish line. Then when your done, Ill give you that civic, with the stickers and a list of mustang recalls, in remembrance of the day rice mixed with corn. Rock on Ford! Rock On!

mod for mod, give me a 5.0 LX any day of the week and I'd rape that civic. Buyign used cars, to build on a budget is the easiest way to make a fast car. Buying enw cars for their stock speed and potential is a crapshoot unless you know the platform/engine well. the 4.6 dohc is known to take boost very well, and I wouldnt be surprised to see ones running 10's with simple I/E-like bolt on's.

Re: After Market Parts
Question
I would like to add an after market accessory or part to my vehicle, will this impact my warranty?
Answer
Warranty coverage is not dependent upon the use of any particular brand of replacement parts. However, Toyota recommends using only Genuine Toyota Parts when you need to replace a part on your vehicle. Non-Genuine Toyota Parts, or any damage or failures resulting from their use, are not covered by any Toyota warranty.
i got this off the toyota website....so there should be no need for u to worry about having an intake and them giving u sh!t about it....if they do give u sh!t, tell them to do a search on toyotas website and it'll clearly state that warranty can not be automatically voided because of aftermrket products put on the car.....it can only be voided if the aftermarket part was to blame... good luck!

Dude if you want the real protection, search the federal DOT code.
I knwo that Keyshawn has posted this before, but it EXPLICITLY states that a warrenty covers all parts except the changed and damage ONLY DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTABLE to the changed part. And the onus is on the DEALERSHIP to prove the damage was caused by the part. There is a reason that these things never go to court. Because the dealership knows they will always lose. Thats why the act all tough because if they intimadate the owner from taking action then they dont haveto deal with it. In actuality they are just trying to make a buck with the repairs.

seriously, just take the advice he gave. if you mod your car TAKE THE DAMN MODS OFF BEFORE YOU BRING IT INTO THE DEALER and you will have little to worry about. of course my dealer is cool so i don't have too :D
