In my car, as far as audio, says JBL on it. The CD player and all the speaker covers says JBL. However when I went to look behind the passenger side kick panel, there is not an amp. Am I looking in the wrong place or am I missing something?
Thanks
Keith

What year is it? Premium came as JBL in 03+ I think. Mine was premium but never said JBL because I have a 01.

00-02 had the "premium option" 8 speakers total (3 in both doors, 2 in back). Factory amp behind the glove box.
03+ had the "JBL option" 6 speakers total, no amp (I suppose its in the radio).
The 8 spkr JBL system was an option only for the GT-S in 03'+. I think that's the only one w/the amp for '03+. The difference in speakers was that the rears were coaxial vs. a single full range. The 6spkr GT-S version may not have had an outboard amp. I'm not positive.... but, I think one of HU differences was the Premium would do 6 CDs and the non-premium would only do a single CD. I'd have to go searching... I know there's a thread around somewhere ;)

It is an 03, sorry for not including it. I count 6 speakers, 2 in each door and 1 on each side in the back seat. So Im not supposed to have an amp?
Thanks,
Keith

well if its not there, its not there lol. easiest way to know for sure is to check the back of your radio... if your main harness, is actually a pair of harnesses, then no, you wont have the amp. that system is much easier to work with in regards to an aftermarket system as well. the amp makes things difficult.
oh and, it might actually be easier to see the amp if you drop the glove box? i dunno, its been a few months since ive been messing with the amp. cant remember the easiest way to get to it, but i know i did that before.
