I'm going for a GTS this August, but I'm wondering if I should wait for a '03... when do they come out in North America? After January '03? Any preoders shipped immediately? Is the '02 the one with the rev. limiter?

Wait for the '03! The rev limiter will be back up to 8300-8400 RPMs ('02s were at 7800). They should be availabe in late August/early September. You can also get HIDs as an option.

definately wait... people got screwed on the 02s... thank god most celica owners dont frequent sites like this cause no one would buy one otherwise.

Will the rev limiting on the '02 gts greatly affect typical (non-racing) city/highway driving?

Freebird, you will never notice in normal non redline driving. I don't race mine but I do notice that after owning an 01 GTS for a little over a year I am driving her harder and harder.

Thanks 109/302. BTW, what does your screen name mean?

The 03 will have HIDS? What else will the 03 have for options and any other differences?

Just a guess, but 109 ci is the size of the Celica engine (1.8L) and 302 ci is the size of a Mustang's (5.0L). I would guess he owns a Celica and a Mustang.

You'd probably be better off with the GT engine for typical, non-race driving. The GT-S engine doesn't count for much until you push it past 6000 RPM.

Check out this site with all the new features or most likely for the 2003 Celica, the front is a lil diff and the tailights are also redesigned. http://www.celicagarage.citymax.com/board/board_topic/6511/5991.htm
I'd wait for '03 if I were you. Having a low rev limiter really sucks. Hopefully I'll be able to fix that problem soon.
