OK so i called APEX today and asked about the VVTL-I and messing with the lift , and or rev limit.

They said that BOTH VVTL-I and I-VTEC were abandoned in research on making a "V-AFC device" for them, they insisted it cannot be cracked or altered. WAY to complex!
Looks like RSX type S is in the same boat.

Called AEM

They are currently on projects with an AEM engine manegement , and other "tweeking" devices , They also have not claimed to crack the LIFT or new VTEC technology .... just able to lean / richen / monitor these cars.

AEM essured me that we WILL have some major equipment for our celicas within this year (by december)

Interesting info. In any case, props for taking the time to call around to get this info from these companies. There's still alot of conflicting info, though. Some people say that the Power FC CAN control VVTLi, rev-limit, etc. It just hasn't been released in the US.

Thanks, man. Also, what's up with AEM's listing on their website for their stand-alone ECU for the RSX? I was under the impression that their ECU, like the Power FC, CAN control iVTEC, rev-limit, etc.

I've been to AEM recently and I doubt that they can or have any intention to develope this twiking device.
Don't puts your hopes up too much. They seem to have no clue as to the fact that lift exist in the celica, never the less what VVTLi is .

as much as i'd hate to admit... this is pure BS... lots of companies have tried, and failed to make a VVTL i controller

Has anyone else other than EL Prototypes tried to build a VVTLi controller?

Maybe because they don't even understand the factory fuel system let alone VVTi or VVTLi....

Actually controlling the VVTLi is easy, controlling the VVTi is hard but possible, its actually monitoring the whole thing effectively to where you can control it accurately that would be the hard part. Plus once you figured it out you would have to rebuild all the performance maps from scratch and no-one anywhere would know how to tune the stuff. But controlling the OCVs is just a matter of duty cycling current to them in the correct amounts. (or just on/off switching it in the case of VVTLi) Not that hard to do with a couple transistors and a chip. But good luch writing the code to properly interpret and respond to teh crank and cam signals you have to watch to control the mess.
