****UPDATES**** 4/24/2010 at bottom of page with PICS

Stay tuned to more stuff and updates every weekend. So if you dont know i picked up a 2002 celica gt 5 speed with 122,000 miles for 400.00 bucks...it came with 4 extra stock wheels spare body kit and trd exhaust. So here are the run downs of how much money i have in the car already and what it looks like so far. btw the fuel pump wotn prime does anyone know where to find the relay or whatever so i can check that?

400.00-paid for car
80.00-battery
120.00-stock struts springs and fuel pump
30.00-oil and filter
10.00-spark plugs
sold 2 stock wheels for 200.00

so far not too bad..once the battery was in i was able to check and confirm every thing works in the car all lights speakers windows.....everything so i am happy with that and today after i rasied it to stock height i gave it a bath after sitting for 3 years.

the pics mask how bad the paint really is.....it needs all the under body plastic, and a right front fender to have all exteior piece in perfect condition for paint. its a blitz fiberglass kit. and yea some people prolly remember my previous threads about this car but i finally was able to bring it home after all the 2 feet of snow melted. i just offered my frined 300 bucks messin around with him one night and he was like 500.00 i said 400.00 he said show me chash i did next day and signed the title then he was like i got all this extra crap too.....he even said i have this exhaust for it too you can have it isnt loud at all so i took it off and went with something else.....imagine my surpise when i saw trd stamped on the side...

I can't tell how bad paint really is from that pictures, but fist thing I would do is try to polish it and see if that helps at all. Sometimes it's all you need.

well this can help, the car was from factory bright blue...then someone threw paint thinnr on it then a friend paitned car at his garage and got wrong color code so it is the dark dark blue color...then it started coming off and the hole car is orange peele...no biggie this car is just gonna be a regular car..maybe a maaco paint job down the road

UPDATES
This past weekend i undertook the project of getting the car running. First off i got a 20.00 fuel pump from a member on here, then got new ngk plugs, air filter, belt, changed oil and filter, and drained all the gas. Btw if anyone thinks they have a fuel pump issue the fuel pump makes no noise what so ever that it is working like fords or other cars. I had to unhook the fuel rail to make sure the new pump was working which it was. So after i put all that on the car i finally cranked it and it fired right up idle rough for about 3 seconds rest of bad gas i guess then the new gas reached it and it ran smooth as silk. couldnt belive it was so quiet and didnt smoke or knock or anything. got to operating temp and stayed there. the ac blew cold air and heat worked everything was in proper working order very happy. put it in gear and eased out the garage and well there is a lot of clanging knocking and grinding in the tranny so thats where im going next. new axles, clutch, and tranny just looking for the best deal.

so yesterday i spent about 4 or so hours cleaning the interior of the car. I used this duragloss upholstry cleaner on everything and it worked out better then expected there ere a lot of stains that came completely out. I didnt take a before picture but i will let yo know this, i didnt know the front seats had blue fabric on the sides...they were so dusty i couldnt tell. needless to say it looks like a brand new car on the inside. what do you think?

i read in the wash and wax forum on here and people swear by it. They said it is like a special order i was like well im not gonna order it online so i went to napa and looked around and sure enough it was there it is duragloss 451 or soemthing on the front it was 8.99...it did the 2 front seats twice over and the rear seats 3 times, and the roof. it got out every single stain. there was a spot in the rear seat that looked like a bleach spot about 5 inches big i sprayed twice and brushed it, came right up completely couldnt belive it. I mean knew i coudl get the car atleast clean enough to be driveable but didnt imagine it would come out his good. go to wash and wax they have a pic in one of the thread thats where i found it.

Time to mod it and love it a little longer.

Sloalty
03-15-2010, 09:58 AM
no modding to this car i already did that with a 2000 gts 6 speed back in 03-07. that was my baby and did tons of mods. this car is for gas mileage, it has a kn drop in filter, butterfly removed, and trd exhaust, front upper strut bar and lower tie bar thats about it for now.

sorry for the run ons but i typed as things came ot me..

Ok so more updates...i bought a 5 speed tranny that has been fully rebuilt, new drive axels, new exedy clutch. I also had the flywheel resufaced by napa machine shop. Ok here are some thing i noticed about the car that i didnt know while doing this. The oil pan is bea up really bad from when it was lowered so i pulled that off and beat out the dents. Also i found out thatr the front fenders and bumper were being held on by exactly 8 bolts. Went to ace hardware and got 16- m6 bolts to pull everything back together so it is solid as a rock. Finaly when the tranny was out i saw some nice grease pen marks all over it (so it is a junkyard tranny) and all the bolts werent even tight at all. So needless to say i have gone through every bolt under the hood to make it solid. I also ran a new rear windshield wiper tube to the rear of the car so it works now, plus i fixed the running lights so all 4 work now as well. While the front was off i took out the headlights and wet sanding them to get them to look like new. One cool thing was a mazda 3 factory antenna fits on this car and is a foot shorter and black so it looks a lot better. So here are the pics of what is going on in the garage. Take a look at tht nasty tranny and drive axels. surprisingly the clutch looked great.

Ok so finally done with the project....it is out and driving around now. I forgot how good they handle even in stock trim cause im use to driving an explorer or my lightning so this little car really hugs the road. Also the stock intake makes plenty of noise with the butterfly removed. I took it through the gears to redline after 500 miles of break in and no grinding of any kind it is awesome. all it needs now is tire (already ordered) alignment and underbody plastics. here are the pics of it at my apartment. Btw this website helped a lot because i posted a lot of questions and got very informative answers

here is the total invested..
200.00 for the car
750.00 for tranny
150.00 for axels
120.00 for clutch
50.00 for various cleaning supplies
free inspection :-)
50.00 flywheel resurface
300.00 for tires

rough est......1620.00 so far...not too bad when the car we sold was free to us and we got 1600.00 for it....so at the moment it is driveable and everything works for an even trade of the 93 intrepid....well if you dont count the 20 or so hours of work done to it by myself and my dad for free.

the intrepid was a gift from my girls dad he got it free from a friend for a lil side work on his house. yea the clutch has a lil chatter feel to it but after some miles it is getting better..i had it in my 2000 gts for 4 years with no problems...yet i kept going theough c60's haha..here is a pic of my old celica
I know it looks like just a lil body work and interior work but the main upgrades were suspension i autox the car and had every strut bar, sway bar, endlinks, camber links, full coilover setup it was great.

Ok so today i had the stock exhaust cut off and had my free TRD exhaust put on for 50.00 bucks...look at the pics and i have to say the stock exhaust went through hell and the pipe going to the resonator was crushed from when the car was so low....so all in all i think this is a huge step in the right direction. i havent heard it yet but my friend sent me this pick of the car on the rack. Oh forgot to add i sprayed the entire underside of the car with black undercoating thats why it looks clean and black under the car if you can tell form fuzzy pics

also last night i installed an ebay upper strut bar and an ebay lower tie bar for the front...it definately stiffened the front up...the lower tie bar made the biggest difference the response is awesome. i will get a pic of the engine bay and under the car so you can see the bars i put on...total invested was 50.00....and finally i made a thread on here about how i sanded the sunroof down and compounded it and it came out amazing so here are the after pics.

hectorj

got the car home and drove it around with the TRD exhaust...omg i am going to get flamed but im glad i got it for free. the exhasut quality and fitment is perfect but sound really wasnt all that great. it is almost silent at all rpms....which i am very happy about cause i didnt want it loud so it works out very well but i wish it had a lil bit more throatiness...the resonator will prolly be getting pulled soon...but it looks nice and i have no worries of getting pulled over

here are the pics of the lower tie bar that i wanted to provide because i have never seen a pic on here of one installed..you will notice a lot of scrape mars and maybe if you look close see where the oil pan hit the ground a few times...also the engine bay pic after i cleaned it up and imple greened under the hood itself....it looks a lot better now compared to the pics when i was doing the tranny...it was a mess and dirty so i think it came out good.

The subframe crossbar looks like it's been through hell too when the car was dropped

shoot i need to reinforce my cross member. seem like no matter how slow or what angle i take i will scrape ahha

but damn dude gt looks good. ill probaly be spending moneis on mine soon after my wheels.

Sloalty
04-25-2010, 09:07 AM
yea the cross member is actually bent upwards about 2 inches half way down but it still works and came off easy when i did the tranny...no intentions on replacing that...but what i need to do it lift the hole front end up and grab some paint to touch everything with surface rust...i did the fender wells but not under the engine

Sloalty
04-25-2010, 06:56 PM
i take back a previous statement about the TRD exhaust being not what i was expecting...after driving around for 2 days it has opened up a lot and it sounds amazing now...it is right at that point where any louder would get you in trouble but it has that expensive sound you would expect on way nicer cars...i am very happy with it now...when my girl takes it down the road at 3/4 throttle up to about 5k it sounds so incredibly good...just my 2 cents

GSBoek
04-25-2010, 07:04 PM
That's normal, exhausts are quite at first but get louder with burnoff.

well it was used for however long but sat for 6 years before getting used again so i guess it turned back into a new muffler.
