so i bought the s2k antenna and i was about till install it on my 04 celica gt. When i was taking off the "lighting rod" antenna it broke off. It was on there so tight that i did a thread about if its even suppose to twist off, everyone said use elbow grease blah blah and now i have no f%cking radio! lol. HELP! what should i do. the whole thread is still in the socket.
Am i really going to have to buy a whole new set up?

you DO turn it to get it off..mine was also very difficult...try taking a needle nose pliers or a small vice grip and grab onto what you could..is there a big enough piece left to grab?

you may be able to take it to a machine shop and have them extract the broken antenna stub. if all else fails you can get a new or used antenna base. time to use your cd player for now.

The dealer sells the antenna assembly in pieces. The piece you need shouldn't cost more than $30-40.

you listen to the radio?
i do every day. i think my cd player gets used maybe once a week for 15 minutes at a time.
basically you need to upload the pic. either in your car domain or in a photo bucket account. the right click, click copy image location. then come back here and in the box with the pic of a mountains right next to the quote box you'll click on the mountains then right click and paste. should past in your image location that you copied then hit reply and should be seen in the post.

so did it work better when you took it out of the garage? when i pull my car in the garage its always staticy....if theres nothing there to grab you will probably need the piece from the dealer..if you have a sound system guy near you it may be worth it to bring the car to him and see what he thinks maybe they have some method for extraction

Somebody tried to be funny by unscrewing my antenna and leaving in on my front yard.
Mine is not right at all for some reason like some of yours.
And I've never removed stuck screws, but I know there are process to do that properly.

the process to remove stuck screws on some parts would be heating, but heating this close to your cars body would probably warp the metal, so this is tricky. You might need battery pliers, and i mean good pliers with insanely good handle grip and at the same time you might need some other tool.
how about you ask the dealership?

ok, no heating none of this bs, file down the stub so its flat, punch a center hole, starting with tiny drill bit (I won't go in sizes) drill a pilot hole down through the stub under a correct angle (antenna is angled), keep going up in drill bit size (use WD as lubricant) until all there is left of the stub is a shell with threads, then it either falls out, or you re-tap the threads in the antenna base, takes 5 minutes. I had the same problem. Good luck.

better have a steady hand and a good angle of attack... its not THAT easy to do lol. or if youre going to drill at all, see if you can find someone with an easy out extractor set. once you have one hole, DO heat it locally a little to loosen the lock-tite and spin it out... at least that way you dont run the risk of your drill walking or accidentally drilling off center and removing half youre threads...
and if you do remove your threads, theres always heli-coil's as a last resort. there are lots of solutions, but a picture would def help all of us narrow things down for ya.
warp the metal,
Lol, its the paint you have to worry about... its gonna take a LOT of heat to deform metal.
