View Full Version : Driving without guages in....bad?

I took my guages out to do the blue LED install and while it was out had to take a ride to the store real quick. I noticed the overdrive was permananlty off (yeah it's an auto) , and the DRL's were off. Obviously there was some electrical confusion but it won't screw things up right? All I did was unplug the damn guages. Just checkin....

So I take it you have an auto?

it won't hurt anything.

no prob, in a gts you cant hit lift either

I could be wrong, but I thought all odometer calculations and records were done in the gauges. Larry and others who switched to the TRD gauges got their mileage cleared.

Dayum, drove to work today and realized no guages = no A/C. Driving with overdrive off (basically in 3rd) on the freeway sucks too....

LOL...I noticed the same thing too. I was also driving with the window switch out so the windows were up and it was in the 80's. I was having to open the door at lights so I didn't pass out from the heat.

i dont remember not having the ac not work.
i drove without the gauges in for 2-3 weeks.
once you put them back in you get a check engine light.

EVIL did your check engine light eventually go away? or how did you get it to turn off?

I should be putting mine back in soon... hope they don't do the same thing.

when i took mines off my ac light didnt come on.. and i dont think the ac worked either.... i reember i was trying back to sf from davis.. it wa slike.. 98 degrees in davis too...

well, when i had them out the car ran really really weird and sluggish.
i put it back in a few weeks later and the cel was on.
disconnected the battery for a little while and it never came back on!!!

LOL, the 80's huh? The only time I turn on the AC is if it's raining. It got up to 96 yesterday down at the lake.

I put my new BLUE LED guages in (thanks to TheHAMMER) along with my reverse indiglos (sorry, I'm excited about the whole thing :applaud: ) and yep, the Check Engine Light came on. DId it the first 3 times i drove the car, but hasn't come on since. Everything works now :)
