he sucked (or the celica sucked, still like the low booms it lets out though :)), didn't even qualify
he raced a tiburon against papadakis (also in a tiburon), and lost in that too

Give them some time - they still haven't gotten it quite figured out yet and I have a sneaky feeling hes making a little TOO MUCH power on launch... All reports are that he damn near collapsed the sidewalls he torqued em so bad when he launches. (and yes I know sidewall flex is a critical part of racing slicks) I year the ramp up and maintain on his power curve is ungodly. They probably just have to learn to tame the meast. After all, 3RZ-FE power is where its at! <grins>

I'm sure if the fuel cars can launch without collapsing the sidewalls then they should be able to do it.

Aye - I'm being melodramatic. So sue me :)

Course the fuel guys have a little more experience on their side with regards to what they can get away with and how to set up their cars.

Either way, all melodrama aside - I hear a there are some serious issues with his 60 foot being messed, and its allegedly related to excessive initial power from the descriptions I've heard.

In retrospect lets not compare this stuff to the top fuelers.. they make me feel all inadequate with their 4 second ETs and engines that displace more volume than my living room...

OK melodrama aside. There was considerable verbage on a thread recently concerning the problems they were having. They seem to be having a lot of difficulty getting the car to launch correctly. You should take a look since it has the straight skinny on what was going on. This was in May so it doesn't look like they've made much headway as it appears the fastest the car ran in Englishtown was a 10.4.

Yup thats pretty well in line with what I heard. The guy telling me this stuff works with their team in some regard. /Shrug any way ya slice it 9s isn't half bad for a 4cyl Tacoma motor. Be interesting to see em go 7s. The real issue here is that this engine just doesn't have teh torque of a top fueler... they can't afford to hook up quite that strong on the bigs just yet, and they can't afford to obliterate the smaller ones. I'm sure they'll get her figured out with a little time. Although I wish em luck on getting anything out of TRD on time... those guys have always been behind schedule on any project I have been involved in that they were a part of.

I certainly don't have any inside information but their current problems do not appear to be TRD related. The motor appears to be strong enough, now they've got to get the clutch/chassis/suspension dialed in.
