View Full Version : Just finished installing an indash screen! Pics!

After getting a little bored at work yesterday, I figured my center piece was in need of some work again. I opted to remove the cd player I had for a dvd player instead. The unit plays dvd's, vcd, cd's, mp3's...well you name it... :)

Here are some rough pics...I still need to clean up a few things here and there. Enjoy!

I cut apart my old stereo mounting kit, made the screen fit in it. Bondo'd the entire area to make it look flush. After that alot of sanding, alot of patience...4 hours later thats what I got. :)

thanks for the comments guys!

The dvd player itself is not even mounted in since it was a "rush" job. You can see it on one of the pics...the silver box passenger floor. I am going to mount it in my glove box hopefully tommorrow. :)

Silver and black should go together, but somehow i think it clashes. It would look perfect if the center console was painted, like glossy black (thats how i made mine and i love it, except all the gadgets you got). But with the AC controls, compartment and Case around the monitor in carbon fiber, too match the shift nob. Now that would look very very nice.(would be drooling on it)
btw how is the AC, i see its closed up. I would die here in south cali.

I was thinking of doing something like this except using a 6" widescreen in that location, and molding everything together. But only if I cant get a hold of a jdm center console with the nav area at the top first!!!

tite install. I wouldve put it where you placed the s-afc though. Just my opinion. Tight install none the less!

Damn straight I am hooking you up man...you would be surprised how cheap a nice setup will cost...we are talking well well well under say $500CAN.

The work on myn was kind of rough...since it only took 4 hours, on your car...we would leave it looking insane. :)

i did a similar install but i decided on a clarion flipout 5.6" lcd monitor... i went with a blankpukt dvd player.. im gonna have to cut open the end of my glove box cause the dvd player is too big and there is no where i can mount it under the dash.....uhm

i was also thinking of cutting into the passanger side dash to mount a 5" screen, but i aint gonna mess with that

No, currently the DVD Player is a Power Acoustic model...though its being swapped out as I speak for the Blaupunkt version which seems a tad better. In the pic what you are seeing ontop of the screen is my s-afc from Apexi. :)

Arm, Bottle Heater, Purge, then the last one is Screen on.off
