Virtually I want this type of setup.
http://xoxol.net/temp/stock-speakers.jpg
I have the TA-03 wiring harness and an aftermarket head unit etc.
My question is how do I do this?

to wire the headunit, as long as you have the wiring harness, you should be good to go. its all plug and play basically cuz, if i remember correctly, the TA-03's wires are all labeled, right? if not, they should come with a booklet of some sort with all the diagrams and what everything goes to.
to wire the speakers, i just used the stock wiring so i wouldnt rewire anything. i know it probably would have been better to upgrade the wiring, but i dont think it would be THAT much of a benefit. i guess what you can do in case you DO want to rewire the speakers is attach one end of the old wire to one end of the new wire and pull on the other end of the old wire to pull the new wire through wherever the old wire is running through. to attach the wires to the speakers is pretty much self explanitory. solder the wires to the speaker tabs. im sure there are instructions inside the box that the speakers came in just in case.
to wire the amp, your headunit should have a subwoofer output (some do, some dont. mine does, so i wouldnt know what would be best to do if yours doesnt have it). hook up the RCA cables from your headunit (subwoofer output) to the amp input. to power the amp, run the proper gauge wire directly from the battery, through the firewall is best(poke a hole in the grommet behind the steering wheel under the dash), and to the power input of your amp (no duh). ground the amp to the chassis of the car. the remote wire is very important as it will turn the amp off when the car turns off so it wont drain your battery. wire the remote cable (should be a very thing cable) to the back of your headunit. some have a wire sticking out of the headunit specifically labeled REMOTE, but if not, there should be an accessory cable or illumination or something along those lines. use your imagination and think of what you can wire it to that turns off when you take the key out and turns on when you put the key in (first click while turning the key).
to wire the subwoofer, find the output jacks on the amp and correspondingly wire it to the sub. if its a monoblock amp like mine, it will have 4 sub outputs (+ + - -). you only need to use one + and one -. im not sure if it makes a difference which ones you use, but i just used the center + and - ones.
what setup are you running? what brand? model? and how much power? that may give me a better picture as to how this will be wired...

couple things ... make sure you measure your trunk that box may be just a little too big i haven't measured mine in awhile .... and that amp is a little too big it for those subs... the subs need between 450-900 watts and i'm guessing they're sinlge voice coils which if they were wired in parallel would put you at a1.33 ohms or about 2033 watts at 1.33 from that amp which would result in 2-4 times recommended power.. i would kick it down a bit .. plus 4 ga wire isn't really gonna be able to keep up with that amp .. anything over 1500 watts i would go with 2ga or bigger...

I'm only going to run it at 4 ohms - 900w rms from the amp specs.
I measured before I bought and it will fit.
Lastly, I wanted to get an amp that is a little higher than the specs of the subs. I've read the amp is a little over rated.

This is a very simple process.
Lilboi hit the nail on the head.
Just make sure to test each speaker after you install it but before you put the door panel back in. Otherwise you'll have to take it off again to fix the problem.

I might get some new front speakers now that I am re reading this tread.
Basically I have read the install TA-03 sticky and am still confused. How do I bypass the amp with this wiring thing? I am just confused lol

^the TA-03 that im seeing thats for sale by sonixelectronics seems different than the one i used. if i remember correctly, mine is just a white plastic connector with just cables coming out of it. i dont remember any RCA cables coming out of it or that blue box (the Scosche SLC-4 i think), so either the picture is wrong or thats the wrong item... or maybe it could just be a new and improved version of mine.
i would confirm it, but i would have to take apart my center console to reach the back of my headunit and, quite honestly, im too damn lazy to do it :faint:

hmmmm feel free to pm me. lol I wanna get this installed over the weekend :(
So I could just hook up the TA-03 and forget about the blue box thing?
And is it bad to overpower the subs?

a little headroom over the subs is always good just allows you not to have to turn up the gains as much and stress the amp... however i would like to see the final ohm load of those subs because in side the box they are most likely wired to 1.33, 3, 6, or 12 ohms theres no way to wire 3 4 ohm subs to 4 ohms... so if 1.33 is the case then thats way too much power for em... and again that amp kit is too small for that big of an amp, also power acoustik while def not the greatest amps aren't really that bad we carried them for awhile when i installed and they put out decent power... so i would strongly caution you to upgrade the kit and buy some extra 2 or 0 ga wire to do the big 3 upgrade at the same time...

Everywhere I look it says it's wired to 4 ohms. Which is why I got that amp, but I could be wrong...

^ahh i see. oh well. its understandable.
i MIGHT get rid of my sound system in the near future for weight reduction purposes so i might sell it on here if i ever get around to it. keep ur eyes open for a JL Audio 12w6v2-D4 sub with a JL Audio 500/1v2 amp and a custom sub enclosure if u ever want to get another system for your trunk ;)
i wont be getting rid of my speakers tho. those are staying :)

Bump.
I'm keeping the subs lol. I got an Alpine Ida-x200. I like it because it wont have a cd player.
I got in touch with MTX and they said the box has "4 ohm final load".
And I did some research and found the amp is a bit over rated. So it's really 900-1000w@4ohms (RMS).
I'm going to use lilmex's info soon and install all this stuff.
