I was at the Drive-Up ATM and had my window down, I pushed in the clutch, and there is this squeak sound. Is this a clutch cable sound or something?? I turned off the car and kept pressing the clutch and sure enough it squeaks everytime, only when pressing the clutch to the floor, no noise I don't think as I let off the pedal.

Anyone know what that is? Before I take it in to be looked at (cuz they usually jerk me around at the dealership)

Is it a loud squeak. It could be your throwout bearing.

It's pretty loud, but not loud enough to hear if I'm in the car, engine running, and the window up.

I can definately say that it's not a quiet squeak, you can hear it if your standing outside the car very clearly.

What's the throwout bearing, and what other symptoms would I have if it were a problem with the throwout bearing?

Thanks,

The clutch is hydraulic.

My old clutch did squeak sometimes....wasn't really a big concern for me.

i have a few squeaks too
the first sounds like the belt tensioner, but it stops if i put a lil pressure on the clutch.
the other is the same u got where u get a squeak pushing the clutch all the way down and back up i heard it at the atm too, im gonna have the dealer look at it next time i go in
if u find out what it is let me know

Ok, I did some more talking with some people locally, and I think that my problem is nothing serious (I'm still gonna get it checked out but here's why)

The sound Only happens when I press the clutch pedal. Once my foot is on the floor, there is no sound. When I release the pedal, there is no squeek. And when the clutch is engaged, there is no squeek. ALL this can be done while the car is off...thus, I believe it cannot be the throwout bearing, since nothing is spinning with the car off.

I think it's most likely a linkage or cable or something. Anyone else find this reasoning logical?

If it squeaks with the car off it's not the throwout bearing.
