I heard you could either sand it then paint it and I've also heard you prime it then paint it. I myself am going to be painting my engine plastics as soon as I get around to it.

Personally I'm going to prime it with plastic primer and then spray paint it.

Good Luck.

My tip...take it to a pro. It always looks better (higher gloss, better paint match, no overspray, etc). If you have the time, equipment, and expertise, go for it.

Here's how a pro did for mine...

Just buy some of that car spray paint for plastics at wallmart, take the pieces off, clean them and spray. Apply more coats for better shine and color. Thats what I did and it only costs you like $10 and looks just as good. My buddy had his done professionally and you cant tell that much of a difference. I secretly switched out one of my pieces with his and he hasnt even noticed it. Its the cheapest easiest and quickest way to do it. All in all it will take you about 2 hours (includin dry time).

But make sure you get High temperature plastic paint, because those plastic gets pretty hot in the summer.
