Just did my tails a few days ago i was a little hesitant at first that i might screw up or something. Let me tell you guys it does wonders for the cars appearance especially if you have a dark colored car. Sure beats buying brand new taillights. the overall cost was about 5 bucks for paint, tape, and plastic wrap. Use testor's candy red paint which you can get at a local hardware store. There is an install page which has really good directions. WEll im out everyone peace!

mines been painted for a few months now... as far as i can tell.. its still in the same condition as when i first did it... the only thing is that when its lit up.. looks kinda orangy... i dunno if its always been like that.. or if its because the paint might be fading.. i dont think its fading tho...
does anyone know if the bulb inside the taillight is amber or not? i might have to put a red one in there.

I've had mine for about 9 months and decided to touch it up (brighten it up a little). We stripped the paint off, but the paint dyed the tail lights. So, this mod isn't reversible for those out there that think they can go back to stock in a little while! I used the testors paint too.

I did mine with red vinyl a few days ago. It is a lot easier and if you want it off it will peel off. It matches the red of the housing really well, and doesn't still look kind of amber liek some I've seen when its lit up.
I used vinyl on mine too and I love it. It doesn't have the orangy look on it like others have. Plus I don't have to worry about it fading.
Here's some pics:

From the ones I've seen in person, the vinyl is a little too opaque to match the rest of the lens. Since you can vary the paint coat thickness, you can match the transparency accordingly.
