Just a thought on how long you think this site will turn into another deserted web page?
-I would say in about 5-7 years

Considering nc.org is the only real source for the 7thgen celicas, I say it will be around for quite awhile. Others may die, but as long as people have the car there will be a forum.
Kinda like the saying "If it exists, the internet has porn of it." Same thing except forums.

Really depends on the owner. When larry decides he doesnt want to keep up with the site. Neither his wife or him have a celica so could be within the near future.

the day the owner gets bored of this site and stops paying the bill :gap:
the more years pass the more affordable the celicas get which means high school kids will have their daddy buy a celica then come here to discuss mods...right?

Well I mean i'm pretty sure Larry makes money off of newcelica with sponsors and advertisements etc. No reason for him to get rid of it IMO. :shrugs:

As with anything it is what you make of it.
For some the celica is only and will be nothing more than a first car.
For others it's a passion, and as long as there is a deep love for the car the forum will live. The site does not live off the people who have 120 posts and own the car for less than a year. They make great how_to_fix_... threads. The site will live as long as the cars and the owners who take care of them, and appreciate them for what they are.

Damn beat me to the 2012 as well :( I could see the site being around for a long time as long as the people stay as civil as they have been. I don't even own a Celica and I decided to stay just because you're all so darn nice =D

A lot of other sites will die off before this one does. Last time I checked we were still hovering close to the top 1000 in forum activity level, not bad for a single model site.

And to answer your question. For the people saying whenever Larry wants to shut it down... He makes money off this forum and any others he may run from advertising and vendors. It is a business and unless someone offers to buy it from him I am sure he has no intentions of getting rid of it anytime soon. And if a new celica does come out... business will be booming. Having been a member now for 7 years, I can definitely say there is a great decline in posts or the quality of member following with events/meets, etc. But, as celicas are now much more affordable, you see a much younger crowd on here than what used to be back in the early 2000's. But just like there are even old datsun forums, this forum won't be going anywhere anytime soon. If there is no new celica in the near future, it will become like the many older gen honda civic forums out there where people are picking up celicas for low prices and building amazing set up's from starting on a car that is now cheaper to dive into.

Haha, no the one I saw actually was a red celica with a trd kit and rims. Saw it a few months ago, was one of those types where the chick walks around in public flashing the goods to people before getting banged in a back alley haha.

This site will be around as long as aftermarket parts exist for our celicas. This is dependant on the demand which will slow down once the kids who own them get married or graduate to better cars. Most of us have already done as much as we're going to do to a ride that is no longer being produced. Most questions about the car have been answered and modifications explained and posted. I dont believe a new generation will buy the cheaper celicas when they can get something newer or faster. And if they do get one, their eyes will be set on something better, and they will run our buckets to the ground.

Just b/c neither one of us owns a Celica anymore doesn't mean we've lost interest. Yeah we're not as active as we used to be but between jobs, a 3 yr old and twins on the way, we have no time to read and respond to every single thread like before.
Only reason I got rid of mine was b/c we were having a baby, if it weren't for that, I'd still have mine. We still joke about buying another one some day.
There is no end within the near future *knock on wood*.

This. Though we lost some valuable members a while back, new ones are popping up every day. With the price of them being so cheap, kiddies who only dreamed of owning it are now able to. Though the site won't ever be the way it was 5 years ago, we hope it stays around for 10 more years :)
