I'm planning on getting the Turbo kit from Monkey Wrench.com and i want to change pistons, valves, and valve springs. I'm planning on having an engine shop do the changes and while they're at it, have them port and polish the heads.

My goal horsepower is the 291-300hp, so i'm not looking for anything super crazy or anything. I just want to know what company would offer what i need and what would help me out to achieve my goal power. I'm not looking to make a speedster or go racing people and pushing my engine to it's very peak all the time, but i will be going to Brainerd International Raceway with it and i want it to perform and not blow itself apart.

Please help me find the parts i need so i can get everything planned out, lined up and ready.

I'm pretty sure your answer is straight forward. Go to MWR and have them do the work. They can recommend what you need and tune your car properly. It is really a no brainer. If you can't do the work yourself go there.

Personally I would get the car trailered there because it is roughly 700mi. But at least this way your guarented to be satisfied. If you go to some hack tuner it's just going to be problem after problem.

I wouldn't reccomend having the shop do anything to the heads. Without the proper equipment, to meter the flow gains they're just guessing.

Your goal is pretty easy to obtain to be quite honest. Drop in a set of mahles with a PFC and a competent tune and you will be good to go. With a turbo kit of course. There realy is no need to do any headwork, the stock heads will not restrict your power goal.

Keep it simple, keep it cheap, and make sure you find a good tuner and shop that can properly install the pistons and check for clearances, and provide you with a safe reliable tune.

As for parts that you will want to obtain:

Clutch (stock wont cut it at that power level)
Pistons (mahle pref due to working with stock cyliders)
Turbo kit
Injectors (if kit does not supply them)
Exhaust (most turbo kits dont come with these, custom from a muffler shop would be the cheapest)
Power FC
Boost controller
Wideband
Guages (A/F, boost, + any others you prefer)

I'm runnin' an automatic, regarding the clutch. Nevertheless, thank you very much; you too, evilthorne.

I'm curious where MonkeyWrench is. If they aren't too far, i can make a roadtrip out of it. I get 42-48mpg so it's no biggie.

Sorry if i seem like a noob, this is my first car and all i've ever worked on has been naturally aspirated muscle cars. Thank you for your help!

because it's a corolla...no matter how much it's been built it still has a market value that isn't worth the cost of the build. When you dump money into cars you'd be an idiot to think you're going to get it back, especially when the market value of the car is under 10k

Is there one that's closer to MN? That's 694 miles away..11 hours.

They are the closest shop to you that could be trusted to do the job. The number of shops in the country that can be counted on to properly modify and tune a 2ZZ first time around could be counted on both hands. POSSIBLY one hand depending on your standards.

Oh - I would add the circuitworx oil pump gear to your parts list. Cheap insurance.

for your hp goal you don't need a port and polish, sure it would help but its not needed.
just get a GT2871R or GT30R and you could make that power easy

Exactly. Illusive's list is perfect - just add oil pump and subtract clutch.

You will also either need one of my PFC patch harnesses, or MWR's AEM setup for autos.

Not a lot. The harness and coolant sensor adapter is like $650 and teh PFC is abotu $1000 these days. Factor in the lack of knock retard and transmission control on the PFC, and the AEM might be worth it. Mind you I'm not sure if Matt was using the stock ECU for the trans control or the AEM. If hes using the stock ECU then I guess the PFC gets a slight edge in price.

Eden Prime, idk if your wondering this but the cost for MWR to do a tune is $50 setup and $125hr for tuning. just helping a fellow MN out!
