was told by a fellow member that the seibon hatch comes pre drilled where as the VIS i think doesnt. same with carboncreations which seemed to be the "cheapest" of the bunch. is this the case cause that would seem to be a pain to drill all the holes. not just the ones for basic bolts that hold it but the other few that are for electrical wires/shocks and such. so can people with cf hatches chime im and help me out. thanks

The VIS does not come predrilled and I highly doubt the CC does either. I have seen 3 different VIS hatches and they were all the same. Just like 909 my Seibon was predrilled.

I also remember the wiring was a b!tch to get through on the VIS hatch and it went through like OEM on the Seibon.

has anyone weighed the original vs. these "carbon fiber" replacements?

We have never weighed them but I can tell you the carbon fiber hatches are way lighter, even with the OEM glass installed. You can carry the carbon fiber hatch with no glass with 2 fingers but the OEM hatch is heavy even without the glass. If I had to guess I would say the weight savings is probably 30lbs or so.

thanks again 03GTSTRD. your my go to guy on cf hatches:gap: guess it will be seibon then. damn shipping on these things sucks.i see one place shipping cf hood and cf hatch together with free shipping. costs like 1000 bucks. too bad i already have a hood.but i plan on doing that for my Z. just dont remember if they were for VIS or CC.

I remember being able to lift it with a finger:) Its a big weight reduction the only thing that makes it weight alot is the oem glass.

I also had a question about these carbon fiber hatches. Are you able to put back on the support hatch shocks or not becuase i seen some people holding it up with sticks.

If you do be prepared to get alot of shaking and noise from the hatch. The hatch is really light and the shocks cause it to shake alot when ur on the highway especially if the road isnt smooth.

Ye it is, and I do need both. It wasn't a limited time special was it? Cause I won't have 1,000 to blow for awhile :)

if you browse their store they have a link for cf combos. i guess they wrap them both up good and then combine together in one big bundle maybe.im looking into this for my Z soon.

It comes partially predrilled but not all the way. You will still have to do drilling to make it fit right. IMO you would have been better off paying a little more for the Seibon but I hope you have good luck with the VIS.

yes that is what he told me. then he said the VIS was on back order and woudnt be able to get it for 2.5 weeks or so. so i got the seibon for 590 plus shipping. supposed to get friday. VIS was 499 .um question on the hatch. removing the rubber seals, can i get the wires out that way.is there a connection real close to the opening. ive yet to really investigate it.

Just unplug all of the connections under the rubber seals near where the hatch bolts up. Then pull the wires out from the other side. It is actually pretty easy to install. Just pay close attantion when you are taking it all apart and you will be good to go.
