Yeah a big thanks to Shizuma and larry for making this possible. Pretty cool to see an already great forum update and expand itself. I'm sure this section will store a bunch of valuable information overtime.

What will the class be covering? Probably just basic oxy-acetylene welding/cutting and stick welding. Mig and tig are better than those old school methods.

i would hope the class would cover these lol.

They are more of an advanced method...usually the basic starts out with how to control heat, control the puddle and get a rhythm down; also how to weld flat, vertical and upside down (and different joints)...which is always done on oxy-acetylene and stick welder.

Mig is really simple..tig is easier than oxy-acetylene, but every class I took we always started out with the oxy-acet. and stick welding. Mig and tig is more on how the machine is setup for the different thickness/type of metal.

.tig is easier than oxy-acetylene

other way around for me :( as soon as i added filler i was ****ed. i could do it with out filler fine. sucks.

stuff like that takes skills and time/ and practice. took me a long time to be able do what i can today and its junk lol :gap:

I think it's easier because you can control the heat with the pedal (or knob on torch)..so you can get the puddle started faster and add/lessen heat when you need to.

Guess that proves that you do need oxy-acet before tig..it's all about learning first.

Filler definitely takes some practice.
