I read on a web site that the sport/shift tranny and the 6 speed shift slow because the ecu retards the ignition during shifts to make the tranny shift smoother is this true? And if it is maybe this could be the answer to the not being able to stay in lift. Because my GT-S looses about 1200 rpm,s between shifts. Don,t rember what site it was.

Not true. You are thinking of the "logic" in the shifting program for the AUTOMATIC transmission.
The 6 speed doesn't do anything like that. It is hard to stay over 6000 rpm on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts because of the gear ratios. It is technically not possible unless you slip the clutch or spin the tires.

the automatic does that to reduce torque spike during shifts...however the sportshift mode in the auto gts doesn't do this.
this was told to me by TRD.

It is possible to stay in lift with the trd short shifter. Shifting right before the rev limiter cuts in. Have used this technique on the track it works.
