View Full Version : Install bump stops while on car?

Yeah, so I've searched everywhere, and I cannot find bump stops anywhere in stock in my area until mid next month. I'm getting my suspension installed tomorrow. My stock stops are totaled or gone.
Can I just drive light for now and order the energy suspension polyurethane bump stops ... cut them vertically, and place them on the shock? I know I will have to fasten them somehow, like perhaps electrical tape around it a lot after it was pushed on.
Or will I forever regret that...

I wouldn't do that.

nah, run it until I got the bump stops, IF and only IF doing a single cut on the bump stop so it could slide on from the side would work. Ive seen and attached several poly ones like that on different scenarios... I figured the tape would just keep it from flying off, but I was not sure if it would stay on, despite it being completely linear force. Just reaching for possibilities here...

with my job, time enough to take it in or do this stuff is less than once a month...

it won't take but an hour or two to pull the struts and remove the top mount. Just get some cheap spring compressors off ebay.
In the meantime, pick up some cheap universal stops for when you put your suspension on tomorrow.

see that is the thing.... Ive been looking for universals, oems anything, couldn't find a single one in stock. There was a single place where I could get bellows and all... but it would be over 100$... for bump stops... and that isn't happening.
