View Full Version : Yellow Celica = Bug/Bird/Squirrel magnet?

There has to be something about the color yellow and flowers that attracts bugs and small mammals that poo. :(
Anyone else have a Yellow celica that attract bugs and other such 'things' when cars around you go unscathed?
I'm not exagerating, and my experience can't be chance or random.
When I say attract bugs, I'm not talking about the accational bee or other flyer, I mean those plus an infestation of small flying things that coilate on the body and make it look like paint specks.
Birds nail me when I'm not even under a tree (or near one), and squirrels, come on now, on my hood?
I'd love to catch the little ba$tard in the act of popping a squat.....:bang:
just venting......I just cleaned my car last night.....

NO, cause I'd have to take it on or off ALL the time. (for bugs) I'm not sure I'd want to cover my car every day at work. People may think I'm weird.
I'll have to take a picture of the bug thing and post. They are small swarming bugs. I thought it was too early in the season, in the sun...there they come.:o:

Yea I have an 03 solar yellow Celica and if I am within 500 feet of a tree a bird will crap all over my car. I also know what your talking about with the swarming bugs that look like paint specs. It has to be the color.

Hm, maybe you should stop being lazy and get a cover, or stop complaining about animals defecating on your car. If I knew where you car was, I'd crap on it too just for this thread.

Yeah bugs find red attractive too, I often find my car covered in flies and other bugs... like a giant flower. I always wondered if its the color...

Think about it, would you rather go on a clean toilet or a dirty one. So in theory the cleaner the car the more attractive. :chuckles:

Lazy? Come on now, lets look at this logically:
7:30am Remove cover to go to work. (10 minutes)
8:00am Install cover at work. (10 minutes)
12:00pm Remove cover to go to lunch. (10 minutes)
12:10pm Install cover as I stop at bank to get money order (10 minutes)
12:20pm Remove cover to go to McD's (10 Minutes)
12:30pm Install cover (meet wife at McD's) (10 minutes)
12:55pm Remove cover to go back to work (10 minutes)
1:00pm Install cover at work. (10 minutes)
5:00pm Remove cover to go home. (10 minutes)
5:45pm Install cover (stop by store to get food for dinner) (10 minutes)
6:15pm Remove cover to go home (10 minutes)
6:35pm Install cover, I'm home (10 minutes)
6:35:01pm Shred cover and throw away in TRASH CAN.:fawk:
Somedays more stops, some days less.
120 MINUTES a day spend on a cover? ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
LAZY???? Ok, if thats lazy I'm all for it. :gap:

Lol...zing!
But yeah brighter colors are more attractive to the woodland creatures and bugs. Plus the aroma of the fluids attracts bugs like wasps. I have a wasp nest (that I need to get rid of) nearby the car and wasps are always trying to go underneath the hoodscoop. Also after I'm done washing the car I always see gnats landing on it.

Alright. 10 mins to do a cover? Lol.. Unless you have 1 arm, i don't see how it'll take you this long. Maybe 5 mins at most. Get some practice. Invest in a garage, that'll save you some time. Don't park under a tree. Don't look at a bird wrong. Tell your wife that you're going to use the drive through from now on. 120 mins a day beats washing your car thoroughly. Unless you're the kind of guy that enjoys washing your car, I say get a cover and practice wrapping your Toy.

I had a 2003 GT-S of the yellow persuasion. The thing looked nice, if I were an insect, I would have been all over it. At first I thought that yellow was going to look stupid, but after I had it for a few days, I actually like the color quite a bit.

Everyone should always have one yellow car near the house for all the neighborhood birds to **** on.

My car after work today:

The car to my right:

These cars were there this morning, and from the looks of it, they did not move all day (parking spots get 'taken' at lunch, so you rarely ever get the same spot when returning from lunch).
WHAT DO YOU SEE THAT DIFFERENT BETWEEN THOSE CARS AND MINE??

Dude wow...lol You should sit there and actually watch to see what happens. Are the birds actually landing on the car or what? I know my black car atracts them but not as much as yours. They only like when my car is really shiny. If its really dirty they dont come near. But as soon as I wash it, theres one on there the next day. But not 20

There IS a lamp post nearby....but its VERY tall, but not over my car directly. Besides, the bird would have to have precision 'dump' techniques to miss the cars around me and just nail me, either that or the wind would have to carry it on the exact trajectory....;)
The squirrels are worse, they are obviously ON top of my car and make a bigger mess. :puke:

I've thought of watching, but its just not practical to do. This usually happens several times during the month, except in the winter. Fall is usually the squirrels turn to **** on my car.
I do have small scratches on my car, so maybe they are landing on the car. ;)
At least you don't have to deal w/seagull crap.

I was developing a theory about this and this thread spurred some research for scientific facts about my theory. Of the four cars I have the Celica gets the most crap so I started reasoning and this is what I have come up with:
The pattern of the droppings makes me believe the birds see your hatch glass specifically (because of the tint and rake) as a body of water and that is what they target. There seems to be scientific evidence that birds prefer to execrate in bodies of water to keep their surroundings clean and their nesting areas a secret. The Cougar backscreen, though raked has clear glass and the Trailblazer has a roof mostly so by nature they'd choose your car.
Of all my cars, the Celica being dark and reflective would be most easily mistaken for a body of water reflecting up for the birds. This theory seems to make the most sense to me.
Failing that: If birds poop on your car, thank God cows can't fly.

Hahahahahahaha. Birds are racial profiling.
Why not hang a dead bird on your car? That'll keep them from crapping on it. Kind of what the romans did to people they didn't like. It gives the birds the message "This is what will happen to you if you make me mad."
That , or repaint your car?
or.. buy a cover.
