How many kilometers is too high for a Celica?
I was thinking of purchasing a 2000 Celica with 180,000.
Is this too high? If not... what is considered high?
Here's the car:

180,000 KM is about 111,000 Miles...anything over 85,000 miles (136,000 KM) is considered high for a celica.

anything over 85,000 miles (136,000 KM) is considered high for a celica. High yes, too high, I don't think so. There are people with 200K+ miles on theirs.

I had 80,000km on my celica when it was totalled off and I thought it was getting high :S
When I buy cars I generally try to buy under 60,000km.

bought mine with 90k miles a year ago....now have about 120 miles. It gets driven hard every singe day (delivery driver) and other than normal stuff (tires, oil changes brakes etc) I have had zero problems.
If you take care of them they will take care of you.

What is considered "too high" is completely subjective.

Looking at those picture that car appears to have been taken care of very well.
Assuming this is correct, and the price is right, it's a good deal.
I bought my car at 42k (67k km) miles and I am at 90k (144k km) miles and I still drive it hard, no problems.
abit higher than average. With alot of attention on the car, will never be a problem xD

i bought my 2000 gts w/almost 150k on the odo,
but it was a 1-owner car, and i found out that it was his very first car
so he really baby-ed it... no major problems
just little things, like fuel door hinges rusting and hatch struts not holding up the door
*shrug * 180k km seems fine to me as long as you do the research (i.e. carfax)

I also bought a 2000 GT-S 6 speed and she was about 116,000km at time of purchase. I thought it was a damn good find for a car that's 10 years old. :shrugs:
When searching for Celica's I looked for ones under 150,000km. Anything over that I avoided or left as a last option.

Thanks for everyones opinion.
So you guys are saying 180,000kms is high for a Celica, BUT if it has been taken care of it should be fine?
When would the engine eventually die?

I have 235000 km on mine. Still running strong.
Plan to to go over 300000 km on stock engine and tranny without rebuilds :)

I would never buy a car that was modified.
Odds are it was beat to ****.

^^^ Depends... either means the owner to great care of it or beat it to sh!t....
Car looks clean... drive it, make sure lift still hits and no grinding on gears and you should be okay..

drive it,This.
The car has been modified to some extent, it has been dropped with what look like coilovers, it has a CAI and most likely an exhaust done to it too. If the driving feels good and there are no unusual noises you shouldn't be too worried.

What? 12,000/miles a year is considered average.
'00s are 11 years old now, 144,000 miles is average. This is well below.
