Curious, why do ppl w/GTS think they......

I'm curious, why is it I always run into people with celica gt-s(6-sp) blabbering about how they can beat a GSR by like a GOOD DISTANCE? I ran into this other guy today also with a 6-sp celica and he said he beat a GS-R by 3 car lengths from a red light. I was like BU@LSH@IT!

I now own a gt-s(6-sp), use to own a GSR, but from my experience, the GSR is NOT THAT SLOW compare to the GTS. I know many of you on this board claim to have quote and quote spanked a GSR.....uh......maybe by a small margin but now by a few car length.

Anyone no this board what to claim that they spanked a GSR with their 6-sp GTS and share their experience?

It's easy for a stock GT-S to beat to beat a stock GS-R by 3 carlengths in a quarter mile drag race, all it requires is that the GT-S run the quarter mile 0.3s faster (at the speeds a GS-R and GT-S are going at the end of the quarter, 0.3s is about 3 car lengths).

Now, the GT-S could win by more, the GT-S could win by less, but it would never, ever lose <IMG SRC="http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smilies/cwm1.gif" border=0>. But seriously, the GT-S is faster than the GS-R, but on average I think the difference at the quarter mile will be less than 3 car lengths.

However, as always the driver is the most important factor. Even with the poor driver I am, I was able I beat a well boosted Plymouth Laser Turbo at the track one time, his slow reaction time and poor launch overcame his dramatic power advantage (he ran a 14.707 @ 99.95 losing to my 15.084 @ 93.15).

Edit: Also, its possible for a GT-S to beat a Type R by 3 car lengths, because the night at the drag strip where I was running mostly 15.0xx and even a 14.9xx, a Integra Type R was there running mostly mid-15s with a best of 15.1xx.

My sister has a GSR 5 speed and I have a GTS 6 speed. I have driven the GSR a couple time, it just didnt have that ooomf the GTS had. I buy 3 car lengths.. and I highly doubt its bull****.

Ego problem--sums it up.

just check out the timeslips of GTS(s) with bolt-ons on this site. very possible for a well driven GTS to take out a GSR by 3 carlengths if the GSR driver wasn't racing his car as well as possible. even then, how many I/E GSRs do you know that can run mid 14s or better?

I love celicas, i used to have one, but I've raced 2 gt-s now with my gs-t and I beat them both... love the celica though.

I lined up with a GSR with just AEM cai at the track and beat him by about .4 i think. He beat me off the launch, but the celica just out powered his car. I caught up half way down the track and pulled about 2 cars ahead by the end. I have aem and exhaust, but i also have about 80lbs of audio gear. So it was a pretty fair match. We were both running stock rims.

i have this kid around my way that owns a GSR w/ i/e/h and we alway run each other when we see each other......NEway i ran him when i was bone stock and i won by about 1/2 car lenghts and when i got my Injen, ever time i got like 2+ car lenghts easy.....and that's just my 2 cents<IMG SRC="http://www.newcelica.org/ubb/smilies/cwm11.gif" border=0>

well, i have two buddies.. they both have GSR and GST..
i kill them both.. but sometimes if i didn't get a good launch i lost to gst

but gsr.. i have no problem beating it everytime..
