so, i got my first real ticket. so i just put a twn ss in my friends civic and decided to go for a ride. i asked to drive because i wanted to feel the difference in the style of shifter that honda uses. my other friend with a 1990 celica gt was following. we take some twisties and get some heel toe and revmatch action going, and we come to a small highway. we drive for a while and then my friend in the celica rolls up and wants to race. it was clear, zero traffic, and a industrial area with no houses, so i though why not, itll be a good race. the civic has a aem cai, and a full exhaust from the head back. we slowed down to a 40 and i grabbed second. my friend honks off and we go. slowly pull about a bumper shift and get a half a car and slow down. i get a lidar hit on the detector and thought nothing of it because i usually get false hits in the area. we were cruising and we see a car riding our ass, and then turns his light on and pulls over my friend.it was a charger so i didnt recognize the headlights. i then came up to a road block (yes a road block on the highway) where the officer tells me to pull over. he says he got us on the lazer going 41 and thought it was suspicious and then he heard my friends horn. my friend got a racing on highway ticket and a improper use of horn ticket, i just got a racing on highway ticket. he didnt clock us at the end though, and we told him we only raced to the speed limit. great night lol. does this sound fightable? or should i suck it up and take the fine and points?

it doesnt matter if you go the speed limit, racing is illegal. its "exhibition of speed."

tickets gunna be for no less than 25 dollars and no more than a hundred dollars and five points which really blows. im gunna find out on the 20th since a court appearance is required.

Try to explain the judge your reasoning accelerate to the speed limit fast (which is still against the law but not as bad as blowing over the speed limit racing) and that you will happily pay the fine but ask in a sincere way that shows you learned your lesson for the points to be dropped. The ticket isn't that much, but if you insurance see's you racing, your rates are going to sky rocket.

and if the judge doesnt by that offer traffic school... the insurance thing is the worse part about that =p
