Annoying...

Just installed the EMU software onto a new mini-laptop, software loads just fine, but does NOT recognize the connection to the main unit :bang:

Checked to make sure USB to unit works -- yep, just fine with other laptop.

No idea... possibly a USB driver is MIA? :shrugs:

Just thought I'd see if anyone had and solved this problem before I give Greddy tech suport a holler -- let me know!

Thanks!

i don't think the USB "printer" cable has a driver. All I remember it installing the first time i plugged in was the main unit's driver? I could be wrong. Are both laptops using the same O/S? Also, what are the system requirements for the program. Could a netbook not have the required system requirements to run it properly?

The netbook runs windows XP system pack 2 or 3 -- is the EMU looking for a printer port? Do I need to specify that in the control panel?

You could try it, but i doubt it. I would think your problem would be the other way around if anything. The USB A to B is just a cord that is most commonly found connecting printers to computers. The B portion is what usually is plugged into the printer (and also into the EMU). It's a shot in the dark, but maybe the netbook is thinking it's a printer? Did any driver load up when you first plugged the EMU into the netbook? The main unit's driver should have.

Check to see if you can find the driver for the download. It should be somewhere as follows, or on those lines.

c:\Program Files\trust\GReddy e-manage Ultimate\drivers

You may want to uninstall and reinstall again.

its emanage ultimate right?

just go to device manager, and with the emanage plugged in and ignition key on, should show on device manager with a big yellow mark. right click it and tell it you are gonna select the drivers location and go to program files, trust, greddy etc, drivers.

you have the latest version right?

I think I tried that, but I'll try it again.

Just spoke with Greddy tech -- they can't get them to run on netbooks either. Stay tuned...

Wait, wait.... so I knew something you didn't? Hahaha, just j/k Jordan. Glad it worked for you, I was never able to make it work on my old laptop, it always froze when installing the drivers. So finally I got a netbook with win 7.

Oh, trust me, I am not so computer savvy. I have been known to spend all day searching for the "any" key -- this is a good example of that... :hide:

Now, regarding Windows 7, curiously, Greddy claims that the software is not compatible with it... :shrugs:

I'm just confused because I could swear a little pop-up asked me if I wanted to install the driver when I frst plugged it in and I could swear I clicked "yes", but perhaps it was all a dream...

I thought all this sh!t was supposed to work automatically anyway... I don't recall having to do this for my laptop

Whatever... now I can use my handy-dandy compact netbook -- yay! :applaud:

Thanks again!

Yes, it isn't compatible with win 7 at all. But the beauty of win 7 pro or ultimate, is that you can run a virtual copy of windows xp inside it (in literally a window, think of it as windows within windows) and the software and drivers work fine. Thats how I'm running it now.

Yeah, don't trust that little window coming up to install the drivers, sometimes it doesn't work, like in your case and you have to install it manually like you did.

I wish my tuning knowledge would be as good as my computer one. But I'm slowly learning. Just purchased a couple of books about tuning that I saw you mentioned loooong time ago on old threads. Hope they help.

Yeah netbooks are bad asses, which one do you have? I got a dual core one for a good price. Now, how do I make my car drive itself so I can tune when I'm by myself? Hahaha:gap:

That Greg Banish one is excellent! Definitely worth studying.

I think it's this one http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebooks/laptop-inspiron-10/pd.aspx?refid=laptop-inspiron-10&cs=19&s=dhs

Got it off of ebay with an extra disc drive and all the software discs for like $250 shipped. Not a bad deal.

Not bad at all. The small factor comes handy when tuning. Now, my dream would be to get a carputer with a touchscreen LCD in the center console. Then hook it up to the emanage and voila, tuning on the go just touching the screen hahaha. Maybe someday.
