Well I'm going to MailBoxes Etc. to meet the ex-gf so we can sign and notarize contracts so she can take over payments on the $14K car I co-signed with her (in effect its her car since she's the only one using it) and about $5K of bedroom furniture. I get to the parking lot and a pizza delivery car in front of me in the lot cuts left to park in a handicapped spot (he's not handicapped) and in front of an oncoming car. Now the oncoming car is coming at me. I quickly swerve and smack the curb. The oncoming car drives off back to the highway. Now there's sideskirt, wheel, and tire damage on the passenger side of my car. I jump out and start cursing the world.
The police made a report but since there was no contact between cars and it happened on "private property" (the store's lot) my deductible must pick it up.
There's one catch. A guy from Houston, TX was walking to the MailBoxes, Etc. to mail something and saw the whole thing. Honestly, it all happened so fast all I saw was a car coming at me and I swerved to miss it. He said the pizza guy cut in front of the oncoming car and forced the car toward me causing me to make an evasive move and hit the curb (instead of the oncoming car).
Unfortunately the guy from Houston could not wait for the police since he was flying back today from Philly so he couldn't share his view immediately with the police. I do have his information and he did say that the pizza guy cut off the oncoming car to park in the handicapped spot. Thankfully he saw everything.
I then went into the pizza place and one of his co-workers (maybe a manager) said that the pizza guy has been reprimanded ni the past for driving wrecklessly in the lot coming in and out of deliveries. I then exchanged contact and insurance info with the pizza guy and I said his situation depends on the guy from Houston. He said (while wearing these very thick glasses), "I never saw the car coming."
The **** of the story is I was going to the MailBoxes Etc. to meet the ex and get the contracts notarized. She chose this particular MailBoxes, Etc. since it was near the hospital where she works, but she didn't find out if this particular store was a notary (most are, but some aren't, but I assumed she checked). I get caught in I-95 traffic (I'm late), my cell phone is dead and is charging at home (I usually charge it in the car, but I said, well this once I'll leave it home--so I can't call her to tell her I'm running late), and she ends up having to leave before I get there since she's on her way to the hospital then DC (tight schedule). I get there and well, this particular Mailboxes, Etc. isn't a notary anyway.
The contracts are still not signed, they're not notarized, my ex is driving a car that I've made the payments on the last two months to DC (if she gets into an accident without the contracts being signed...lets not think about that...for her sake and my mental and financial well-being), and my car is f'ed for a while. Lucky me.
I feel like calling the Opie and Anthony F-U Line.
MarkyMark, I'll be double-posting in the OT on this bs.
