running boost doesnt kill your engine.. you just have to maintain your car and take care of it..

EIP tuning a 3 stages for the celica...priced fairly well. I called them to discuss the kit and they were quite helpful and eager to help. I would def consider them. www.eiptuning.com I am currently in the middle of a personal debate on wether to get the stage 3 done or trade in on a WRX.. I want boost but i severly love my celi.

Nope, i asked..it willl work for both types and it uses the TECIII system..not the black box route.

it will not work for both types... dunno who you talked to but the GT and GTS are 2 completely different engines which would require 2 completely different setups

as i posted in another thread today, the 1zz and 2zz use the same exhuast manifold gasket therefore same turbo flange. the engines are in the same place in the engine bay so i dont see any reason why a kit wouldnt work for both the gt and gts. There could always be a SLIGHT difference on a pipe to the throttle body but what am i missing? the bore/stroke have no bearing on a turbo kit, the gt would be able to run more boost due to lower compression but thats about all i can think of.

Hmmm...always thought the flanges were different. That's one of the reasons why I thought companies like EIP and Turbo Performance market their kits for the specific models (GT or GT-S only).
Other reasons are: The throttle bodies are definitely in slightly different locations. Also, the GT has more room between the engine and firewall. GT turbo setups can have piping that comes up from between the engine and firewall and over the engine. I don't think the GT-S has enough room for the piping to be routed like that. I think the piping for a GT-S turbo has to be routed under the engine.

on 2 sep. occaisions i called the toyota dealership to cross reference gt and gts exhuastm manifold gaskets and they were the same.

I did ask them if the kit was for both models but i didnt ask model specific questions. He said it was..dunno. Might be bogus info...might have diff kits for each model.

if the exhaust manifold gasket was the same and the angle of the engine was the same then Toyota would have used the same exhaust manifold for both the GT and GTS or youd see GT owners upgrading to the GTS manifold.. there is a reason that there is a GT header and a GTS header made by 2 different companies, its becuz the manifolds are different becuz of the flange and the angle it comes off the engine..

Yeah....AMSS made my header and it fits BOTH GT-S and GT, BUT ...if you buy it for the GT you have to get a separate downpipe 'cause the header won't reach the rest of the exhaust ...its angled outward different....

I'm not one to slam on shops.... but beware of EIP I have HEARD plenty of good about them -but have SEEN more bad..... Just becareful and make a smart choice on parts/ installer... don't rush a big job just because you wanna make power ASAP..... If you don't understand turbocharging do some research so you know exactly what you need vs. what comes in the kit. and ask questions if your spending the $$ on the kit... Is the fuel map programable??? should I run colder plugs??? how much boost can I run??? ect...ect.. Thease engines are so high strung..I don't wanna see posts from everyone with a turbo that they blew their engine (like I saw at other(honda) boards)
