Wow...I'd never thought I'd see this, but the Prius has now been made a Rally Vehicle. Specs are pretty impressive (esp. the torque):
Power: 85.8 kw / 115 bhp @ combined rpm
Torque: 465 nm / 343.0 ft lbs @ combined rpm
I dunno what the combined rpm means, but the car is still the inline-4 hybrid petrol/ electric. Pics can be found at:

gotta love electric motors, all that torque
and they got the same color scheme as the F1 cars, cool :D

You know it's sad when a Prius has more torque than a GT-S...

That torque number is a typo. If the engine produced 343 ft-lb of torque I would think that it would make a lot more than 115 hp. So I visited the website and saw that it does 0 to 60 in 13.2 seconds and has a top speed of 99 mph. With 343 ft-lb of torque, you would get up to 60 a whole heck of a lot quicker than 13 seconds. Typo.

it is an electric motor. while that much torque seems almost preposterous, what could they really have meant that slipped out as 465nm?
combined rpm = combination of gas/electric?

My TDI makes 155 lb-ft @ 1900 rpms.
It gets off the line very quick, but top-end power....it's quite lacking. It also produces similar 0-60 times as the Prius.

Typo. They probably got their info off of Toyota's site:Toyota Hybrid System (THS) Gasoline Engine
Horsepower: 70 hp @ 4,500 rpm
Torque: 82 lb.-ft. @ 4,200 rpm
Electric Motor
Power output: 33 kW/44 hp @ 1,040-5,600 rpm
Torque: 350 N-m/258 lb.-ft. @ 0-400 rpmSo, if you add the power of the gas engine with the power of the electric motor, you get what Supercars.net listed. I'm sure that's not how Toyota meant for it to be interpreted, though.

Actually those torque numbers may in fact be accurate, especially if they have made any kind of performance mods. The Electric motors have excellent initial torque, and the E-CVT technology lets the engine run at higher RPMs at lower speeds than what you might otherwise expect.

i asked a friend of mine who's really into rally, and he says those specs are right.
i wonder how they tuned the E-CVT for racing, this is pretty cool stuff, the future of racing :)
