Hey guys, as some of you may know I just picked up some wheels and I'm wondering what are some of the communities opinions/preferences for lugs and brands for lugs.

I like open, but they tend to rust inside, since the coating is worn off when you install them.

closed, they're less likely to seize from corrosion.

have them and love them. great price. but a suggestion, if you have some expensive wheels then get some expensive lugs

just a suggestion, they pair up appropriately. drag, rota wheels good with mutegi lugs. work emotion, volk wheels good with rays or work lugs.

I like seeing bolts, it makes the machine look more manly and serious.

^^Lol I do not know about more manly and serious. I've seen plenty of crap cars with open lugs and it did not help the situation.

I feel in depends on the design of the wheel. Some wheels call for closed others open. Personally, i prefer closed.

i'll edit. Mine are Project Kics R40 NeoChro. Took me 5 weeks to get them (shortest wait i could find. Longest was 6 months) However this was a few years back. Apparently now you can just purchase them through amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Project-Kics-NeoChro-Racing-Composite/dp/B0036RZ9TG

Good website for lugs: http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/evasive_em.mvc?c=L1

and they carry the very cost effective T1R's at a budget price of $519 for the set

3 important things to consider here (from a racing perspective):

1) Lug nuts are an expendable

2) Open ended (can) yield more thread engagement

3) Generic (steel) nuts will be cheaper and more reliable, leaving more $$ for other stuff in the long run

closed and only closed. end of debate for me. Key here though is that I'm in the salt belt. A Open ended lug would destroy themselves within a season (have seen it happen) and the studs themselves begin to rust. I quickly changed to closed and have had zero problems since with rusting.. running on 3 seasons now, even using the impact gun to install and remove them.

I'm running the McGard Splinedrive lugs in gloss black. Fantastic.
