So my friend just got a 2000 Celica GT but the throttle and intake manifold was from a 2zz. I thought they wouldn't fit so how is this being modified to fit? =/ im really curious.

I've recently been busy with modifying 2zz manifold on 1zz motor.
It's hard but it's possible!

Just have problems with TPS as one member told me two wires have to be switched, but that didn't work for me as the idle is just crazy! like 2.2k and do not go down :( maybe it's apexi pfc need to be remapped??
I will go back to 1zz manifold untill i find out what to do next as i need to drive a car daily

I didn't think the c-one torque brace would fit a 1zz :shrugs:

About the TPS, you will have to reverse the "POWER" and "GROUND"
It will idel high at first, but slower lower it at normal point. I am running with the stock ecu without any problem. It's has been a few months now, no problem have occur.

How is this done??? I don't see a spacer.
Ive been working on this for damn near forever with no luck from shops.
It looks like a GT motor... and a lot more for that matter.

how did you get to to clear the starter?

It's been done with a spacer by Turbo&Auto over on Matrix owners. He's now selling the spacers. He just finished it up the other day.

I have to cut & weld the bottom part of the manifold in order to clear the starter

I figured some cutting and welding would be required without a spacer.

this would be the best route on going. Get the spacer, and modify the TPS wire. then your good to go.

You don't even need to cut and splice wires. I put my 1zz TPS sensor on the 2zz TB no problem!

^^

It's made by Turbo & Auto. Cost will be 250.00 plus shipping.

It will include the Spacer and hardware to mount everything together.

and Direction on how to modify the TPS wire.

If anyone interested, Contact the guy above me at the Matrix form.

What kind of gains are there from using the 2zz IM?

Turbo&Auto
07-21-2010, 10:21 AM
The biggest gain is the fact it's a metal Intake Manifold. The TB is considerably larger as well! I won't have any dyno numbers to compare before and after unfortunately but Keith wants a adapter set and has dyno'd his car recently. Maybe Ill throw him the money for the dyno time and see what gains there are.

I know when I just ran this on my Boosted 1zz Matrix it made the car a bit richer thru the pulls so that may effect the HP negatively without tune on a NA car!! Just guessing there tho!

why woudl it affect a na car negatively without a tune? jin has it and he said he felt an improvement

yah, but mine is completely different. I didn't use any spacer.

jin602_05

a Corolla guy have done it with a spacer, and he felt a lost in MID range RPM. and gain at higher RPM.

But he notice his gas milage went down. and runny a bit rich.

Turbo&Auto
07-21-2010, 12:33 PM
I didn't say for sure it would. Just saying I noticed my Wideband reading high 10's during a pull compared to the 11.6 it was set at with the 1zz IM on it.

edg3h_91
07-21-2010, 07:44 PM
crap.. i wanted to do this and was actually going to join the other forum to track you down and get a spacer shipped to me. but the fact that a tune is needed is a turn off ;(

Turbo&Auto
07-21-2010, 10:27 PM
That's just my theory which does seem plausible. Like I said tho, Keith wants one and lives within an hr of me, Im willing to cover the dyno time to put it on his car and try it.

so damn. I wanna know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. loss in power is not that appealing. Im in between the 2zz manifold or just bore out the 1zz 99-02 ceramic manifold from a corolla, which is a direct bolt on, but needs an adapter plate for the TB.

jin602_05
07-27-2010, 08:55 AM
it isn's a loss in HP. U might need to get it tune to get the FULL hp out of the 2zz Intake Manifold. < u will notice a higher gain at higher RPM.

I don't see the 99-22 ceramic manifold from a corolla any good. <correct me if i am wrong.

hey just wondering does anyone know where I can find dbw GTS throttle body? Im a 1zz dbw and so if I go with the 2zz manifold, that TB is my best bet, but I can't find one. Can anyone help?

jin602_05
07-27-2010, 11:25 AM
Your best bet is to check the for sale section and PM those people that parting out their cars. Or you could go to the Matrix form/corolla/mr2-s. You'll find it...

Good Luck on your project.

Is there a stock plate that holds the dbw Throttle Body to the 2zz manifold? maybe a better question is does the dbc and dbw GTS TB have the same bolt pattern?

hi, what about the 1zzFED that has aluminium stock manifold, it's better in performance than 1zzFE?

Spacer + DD Performance Research 2zz Intake Manifold = 1zz DD Intake Manifold?

I'm fairly certain that's just an older 1zz manifold. As far as better performing: no.

Long small runners with a bunch of compund curves = no bueno. Probably good for low end grunt but not much else I'm afraid.
