Hey guys Im trying to figure out what the widest tire I can fit on my stock 2005 celica gt 15" rims. I have some kuhmo ecsta 195/65/r15 on it now. I'm looking to go with something like a 225/40/15. Or even some 205s would be fine. Can anyone tell me if either of these will fit without hitting the springs or fender well, and will also be fine on the stock rims.

Well I know people run up to around 245's or so without rolling the fenders but I have no idea where you're going to find a 225 or even a 215 with a 40 ratio. I looked at some Sumitomo tires just to get an idea of 15" specs and their tires at 225 or around there are all 65 ratio. Plus if you run 225/40/15 or something similar, you're going to lose about 3-4 inches off your total diameter, so it's going to look very strange unless you're dropped a lot.

Thanks for replying, You were right I couldn't find any 225/40 for a 15". But I did find some 225/50/15s. Which will look way better than my 65s lol. My question now is will the 225 width fit the stock gt rims?

I'm not sure. They are most likely 6" or 6.5". You can use a measuring tape if you really need to, but I'm pretty certain they are one of those two. I think the stock 16" are 6.5" so the 15" are probably the same or very close.

They are 15x6. I would buy wider rims.

BUT i do roll with my stock GT's in the winter, AND i'd probably buy 205 or maybe 215's when I need new winters for a bit of a wider look and better grab in the snow.

As far as fitting, 205 will definitely not be a problem, but 225's are pushing it, might start rubbing on the inside of the car since the rims are pretty sunk in as it is.

They'll fit on the wheels although not ideal. I don't know if they will fit the car. I had some 225-50-15's mounted on 6 and 6.5 inch rims for my other car.

As a data point, I have 205-50-15's on the Celica now. That's with 6.5 inch wide wheels.
