I thought I'd share some pics of my automotive excursions while in the Land of the Rising Sun. I'll be adding more pics if/when they become available.

Today we visited a private collection in Kuriyama in Hokkaido. This collection belongs to Mr. Kato and you'd have to hear about it to know it exists but he said I was free to post pictures on the internet. He has what we would call a Car Cafe, where you can sit and have a drink or dessert while looking at the cars. The place is actually a former school gymnasium that was turned into his exhibition hall. I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

The first thing we saw when we arrived: a Skyline GT-R. To understand the significance of this car you need to know that there were only 197 ever built between 1972 and 1973 and only for Japan. Kato has spent close to $150,000 during the course of his ownership of this car:

There are a few more pics in the gallery. Among the cars in the collection is a 39 year old Subaru that is all original (including paint, spare and jack) that was featured in a collectors magazine, as well as a couple of 70's race cars.
The owner is currently restoring another FB RX-7, an FD and another Mini Cooper.

So far havnt seen too many crazy cars on the street. We did go to Odaiba and checked out the toyota/lexus show room and history collection.
Has everything from classic cars, race cars, new LF-A and a couple of F1 and CART engines around.

LF-A in person = so much win. The car is stunning.

The new crowns are pretty amazing over here.

Went past a huge auto tuning place today in Yokohama but was on the train so i didnt get pics. But they had like 5 white 370z's all with great looking kits on - probably the best looking 370zs ive seen. Wish we stopped.

Took a tour of mnt fuji yesterday and lake ashi.

This skyline looked like a pro drift car looked very aggressive and had some deep dish rims with black center and white barrels/lip. Overall look of the white and black looked great.
