Hi everyone, I'm having some problem with my foglights. When I turn on my foglights, the right foglight doesn't turn on unless I hit it. Over the weekend I took off my bumper to see whats going on with it, but everything looks fine. The bulb looks good and the connection looked good to me. Well I put it back, the same thing happen, it doesn't turn on. It will turn on if I hit it but the next time I turn off my lights for a couple of minutes and then back on again, it wouldn't turn on. One of my friend had an extra foglight so I replaced it and the same thing happened, what do you guys think is wrong? and what can I do to replace it? Thanks

Sounds like there may be a loose connection in the wiring harness that plugs into the foglight on the back of the housing.

Maybe the connector is tight but dirty get some contact cleaner and spray it. otherwise it might be a wire grounding out, this happened to mine the vibrations of the car cut the wire against something( not really sure dealer fixed it)

i checked that and it looks fine to me, it fits snug in there but if its that connector, can I buy another connector or do i have to buy the whole harness?

Sometimes the bulb will "look" fine, but the filament in the bulb could be disconnected just enough so that when the light is shaken it will make contact and then light up. Here's a tip: Try taking the bulb from the good foglight(left) and put it in the right lamp and then turn on the fogs. If you don't have to hit it to make it light up then you know it was the bulb.

Hello.
I had a bad headlight on my Vette for 6 months. When I turned my headlights on the one low-beam would not turn on. I would have to get out and smack it to get it to turn on. I only drive the car once a month so it was no big deal. Asian Honey would laugh every time it happened. The glass was clean and the filament looked ok but I could not get a good look at it through the glass. Usually what happens is the fillament breaks and when you smack it is fuses back together until you turn it off.
Next time your light is out, unplug the connector and take a voltage reading off the connector, fog lights on, engine on. You should read 12-15 volts at the socket. Then take an ohms resistance reading on the bulb. You should only have a few ohms resistance, maybe 1-20 ohms max. If your reading is 0.L (open circuit/blown bulb) or like 100 ohms, then you have a bad bulb. The easiest thing to do is to replace the bulb.
Asian Honey had a bad low-beam light. It looked good until I took an ohms reading, 0.L (open circuit). We then hooked it to a 12 volt 6 amp power supply and no light. We took a know good bulb and did the same tests. The ohms reading was around 2.5 ohms and the bulb lit when attached to the 12v power supply. We stuck the known good bulb in and problem solved. Everyone else was telling her that it was a bad socket, blown fuse, bla, bla, bla.
