This should be a thread dedicated to what you have done yourself (not so much on installs, but made yourself).

It was going good with the custom made items until that purple HID post, which is not even unique, unless the owner made it himself. :faint:

This should be moved to the Fabrication section. I'll talk to Shizuma about it, if not, I'll keep it here and moderate it to only have "custom made" products, not something everyone and their grandmother could buy. (unless you don't fancy that idea. :shrugs: )

Oh well I guess that would be another unique mod. Its from an older celica model, can't remember the year. Had one from a 1976 Celica, but didnt look right.

Yeah I'm talking about the steering wheel button. Its off an older celica, then I painted the word Celica 1D0.

I pulled out the metal center of the stock steering wheel, the centered this button over the stock surround and attached with emblem adhesive. If you want to replace with the TRD symbol you need to buy the replacement emblem or a vinyl/sticker to overlay.

thanks bro :) i didnt really use anything special. just the regular Krylon paint from your local autoparts store like Kragen (dont think autozone sells Krylon anymore tho). i used Krylon Ultra Flat Black Camoflauge and Krylon Gloss White paint. both with the Fusion technology. its important to have the fusion tech cuz it helps it adhere to plastic with no need for primer or sanding. just make sure you clean the plastic well to remove any dirt and oils or whatever. other than that, just spray away with the proper technique and it should turn out great :)

i found an old celica badge from a 84 i believe and tried to incorporate in into the heat shield you can kinda see the raised letters on it i plan on goin back over the letters with a white color . . .it works great i can hear the difference and feel it on the ass dyno

And my own version of the BBmod, long before I new there was such a thing. It's just a 69mm PVC pipe with holes in it and a MAF receptacle bonded to it. No bogging, no CEL. Going to replace it with a Cobb intake though.

You were right to say that those hid's weren't unique and you were right to try and remove them. But my only complaint is that by moving this to the fabrication forum, about 1/4th the people will see and post on it. I mean look at all the great uniques posted so far... I hope that moving this post dones't kill it becaseu it was going great so far... BTW that last post about his own bbmod wasn't unique jsut not the same as what everyone else does... My definition of unique is something that you did to your car that isn't listed on another thread or at least something that is celica specific. or something that might be based on a product that you could buy but is a VERY original twist on the original product.

he is new so most to him is probably never seen before. In your defense (not that your setup would need any) his kit is not a direct bolt on or quick install. that is a completely custom setup tailored specifically for that application

But first things first as I need my car back with me. It is being stored at my parents in MA but the first plan of attack is shipping it down south here to Hilton Head before winter time so I can park it in my garage and begin taking some things apart. :gap:

It is the one wire method, but it's so I can activate my DRL if I want to. Like say it's raining and but not dark out I can turn on my DRL.

DRL = Safety Feature. Fully disabling it isn't exactly smart.

its true, theres more than enough room under the DD im to fit over the starter on the GT. all you would need to do is get an adapter plate for it to fit onto the 1zz. now as far as clearance between the front of the DD im and the radiator thats a different story as its already tight enough as is with the 2zz.

Without going through the effort of fiberglassing a flush mount for the cell phone I wasn't left with many options. I was really just desperate to ditch my stereo for some thing that just worked. No its not going to win any beauty contests but it sounds good for what it is and I'm happy with it.

I custom dremeled the celica emblem out, filled the gaps with clear sealant and wired a light up with my brake lights so that it turns on when the brake lights turn on. I don't believe anyone else has done this that I know of.

I have a fairly unique mod. that i did it is a working hood scoop that i made out of fiberglass.It forces the air into my CAI. There is a heat sheild on the bottom half and when you shut the hood it seals on the top half, pretty much forced air induction.And it made a noticeable dif. in low end power. Depends what exactly your looking for setup wise, if it's just the screen for iPhone I'd say €250ish.
I havnt priced properly yet.

You just need to sort audio in some say, separate amp etc.
I've a few ideas in the works to built everything inside a double din enclosure monitor amp etc with just a wire harness coming out.

Cost will vary on individuals set up.

I installed the TRD Platinum Gauge Face and during the process I removed the gauge needles and used a permanent paint pen to paint them red to match the TRD logo. I think it turned out pretty cool looking. Probably one my favorite appearance mods that I've done to the interior.

gauges instead of a clock, don't know if any one made it before but i'd say its quite unique.

No they are probably wired to an independant switch

So does anyone know how to wire this? I've always loved the look of the turn signals as the DRL's.

Personally never really liked that style that much but I know lots of people do and you did a great job. Be even cleaner though if you could do something to hide the bottom where you can see into the shift assembly. Maybes little leather, or even use a small slice of the same material you used for the rest of it and layer it under the whole thing.

boy that looks disgusting. you need to put something under the plate to cover that gaping hole. plus, it's not a unique mod.

I want to say I saw that done to the Lotus shifter, but the guy added a moving part to hide the bottom. I wouldn't say unique though. And personally a boot gives it more character in my opinion. Not knocking your choice, just saying with a little more work it could look alright, and maybe polish the shifter or something? And the stick on C/F looks to ricey, maybe get the surround actually wrapped, would look so much better then just partial, especially with the 00-02 grey. Just my .02.
