Swapping 2003 stereo issues :/

Ok so I swapped my 2000 Celica stereo with a 2003 Celica stereo, both with premium sound. Everything connected properly and it does turn on. However, none of the buttons work except the power button! It does play cd's, but I can only eject the cd's and can't skip songs or anything. Why don't the buttons work??? :(

It's more likely the radio does not work properly or could be damaged
