I'm a sincere long devoted fan of Toyota and have no intentions of bashing. However I feel I need to point out that the Celica is slow (refering to the latest model). It's not what you would say very fast, even though the domestic power houses are faster they also have more cylinders so you couldn't really compare them its like wrestling out of your weight division. Just my two cents.

i didnt dump on celicas - i like it plenty, i liked it before my friend got one, back in 2000, i hated the look originally but it grew on me one day and i REALLY wanted one for a while... speed was never an issue i considered, and lets face it, why not, celicas running 11's and 12's are pretty unheard of... and when i said they will never be fast - no, they will NEVER run 10's or under so long as they have celica unibodies...

and i didnt lie about who i was, i was the one who told the fool who commented on your brakes too shut up - anyone knows unpainted metal will rust, come now...

and i deleted the post b/c you were all posting, i meant it more for EZrida... shoulda private messaged him, o well, too late now, im off this board, fight-picking immature kids

i invited my friend (1) to ihop after i got off work, felt like taking a break and having a nice dinner, i invited marc too, and then i guess he invited you all - i had envisioned a meal in a booth seat with 2 other people besides myself, not a godamn club meet... where i have a bunch of people so immature they wanna fight b/c i said that:

1. celicas and lincolns are slow - and will always be (slow meaning not fast, which means 130+ mph at the end of the track)

2. I dont street race and i look down on those who endanger themselves and others, and most of all endangering the cars i like for no reason.

i simply DID NOT diss on your car or brakes, redcelly, i didnt say anything negative - kiddo... now either get off my back about it b/c its ridiculous you putting words in my mouth - or name a time and place

and i simply DID NOT diss on celicas in general, if you think there is nothing more to your car than its speed, than you cant really love the car... there is enough about the celica i like that i can admit its slow, it runs 15's in GTS trim... that is slow, and i DONT have a problem with slow - however if there is nothing else about the car you like, and you think that by my saying that they run what they run and that it is what it is - is a DISS... than i take that to mean your dissin your own car...

i dont like the lincoln much, its ok, it only runs a high 14 to more likely a 15... its slow, thats not a problem for me to say... there is enough about the car i like that if someone said it was slow, it wouldnt be disrespecting it in my eyes - hell, i enjoy driving my own chrysler 5th avenue even more, more visibility, nicer overall experience, the thing probly runs in the low 20's at under 60 mph...

i dont street race either, its not fun or worthwhile, everytime ive tried it, ive thought about how dumb and worthless it was to lay down such a risk - and to what? run a car that might run 14's at best?! sorry, it just doesnt impress me - so thats why i took offense when someone told me EZrida was talking down on me and saying he wants to race me, i dont race, and it struck me VERY ODD that someone with a 15 second car was calling me out... to run an 8 yr old lincoln full size... i mean the concept is so ridiculous it just provoked a response in me... sorry to any bystanders i didnt even mean to see the message

im not the "domestic celica hater" you wish i was... my example of a camaro beating a celica could just have easily been a supra/skyline/DSM... its not a problem for me to drive, and enjoy driving something slower than a camaro or a supra... if thats such a problem for you, that anyone simply saying a camaro is faster - is a DISS - you need to look for a new car yourself!

Why does it even need to be brought up. If you call something fast... there is always something faster, if you call something slow there is always something slower. Whatever your car does is what it does. So you can always match it with different benchmarks. Thats why there are different race classes. Wahtever.. i know what the celica does... and i know what other cars do. And frankly i think the celica, for what it is (4 cyl - fwd), does pretty damn good. It's one of the most fun car's i've ever driven.

OH... and I thought I'd add something... a while back i used to think that people were idiots if they liked certain cars, ie civics, ya know.. the riceboys. Well.. too be honest now that I've been a little more exposed to the import world as well as the domestic world I've come to this conclusion. If you enjoy your car, modding, driving, whatever, and you don't bother or diss others your ok in my book, because all the arguing and nitpicking between all types of cars and drivers is just the same runaround over and over. "YAH MY V8 HAS MORE POWER....SO WHAT! MY 4-CYL GETS BETTER GAS MILAGE." This is the kinda crap i hear back and forth, and after carefully reviewing.... no one wins the argument... Once again... enjoy the car you have, have fun with it, and don't be an idiot about it and your good to go

I just re-read your post Quad Cam. I never talked down to you. Only post I ever remember posting is telling Marc to invite just to see what our cars can do. Our car isn't fast. However it is fast in it's class. I believe that this is what we are reffering to when it comes to fast.

First thoughts on this ::::

Fast... in a staight line ya they arn't built as a drag car, if you had any sense you'd notice, they are road racing cars.. so don't say that you are fast in the 1/4 because they arn't, unless you build it to be, which is totally changing the car from what it should be. Though I did just meet a GT-S yesterday with Nitrous that ran 14.0 but nitrous is for the 1/4, I don't know why you people love the straight line, if you wanted that why didn't you guys buy a mustang or camaro or something instead of a road/rally car?? That is my question, and I'm not dump""ing on my own car, I know I'm not that quick in the straight line, burn your ass on track though (REAL DAM TRACK)!

well, i really dont care about anything other than what celiracer,analog, and EZrida said... miscommunication... anywho - i still like the celica, and i still think fast begins at 130 mph trap speeds - so shoot me lol
its just that fast is fast and slow is slow, i never believed in a "fast for a 4 cyl, or fast for a non turbo" just fast and slow... lol

in addition to what you said about 4 cyl capability and handling opposed to solid 1/4 cars... i think more than 80% of what a car is, is what it is, and not what its capabilities are in any field... how it feels, the seats, the controls, visibility, placement, sound... and for those reasons id like the celica if it only came in the GT version

EZrida, i was just upset, and REALLY despising the whole street racing thing and some miscommunication...

im just worried about my friend who has alot more than you could believe to lose if he got caught with even a mild speeding ticket, nonetheless reckless driving and a 70 mph over ticket matched with street racing charges... so i took more offense than your average kiddo being challenged to a race... no hard feelings, i rode in a jeep today so its all good...

and to add - where is there a road course in south florida? morosso doesnt use their ****ty one anymore, just the drag track now... so - where to go?

Moroso actually reopened their road course. You need a SCCA Competition license to run. Check out their moroso's and SSCA's web site.
