what type of software are you using? if it's photoshop i can give you a quick rundown in it. but there's a number of things you can do which could make it kinda difficult to explain.

Is that the program you need? Photo shop? Who makes it, where can I get it and for how much?

Well, if you purcahse the real version from a store, expect to pay upwards of 500 bucks. There are ways to test out the product before you "purchase" it though.

Photoshop is not the only program to use, Paint Shop Pro (Or similar graphics programs) can be used byut PS is pretty much recognized as the industry standard.

Pretty much?? IT IS recognized as THE INDUSTRY STANDARD! :) well at least as far as image editing goes. I honestly spend more time in Illustrator than photoshop, but thats a totally different subject. :)

BTW, Photoshop is made by Adobe, as is Illustrator and a few other programs. Right now, they've just released Photoshop 7. I still don't have it, but that won't last for long. :) If you want it, get a program like WinMX or similar.

I like everything I've learned so far: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, and Flash. They all serve their own purpose, and work from one software can be imported into almost any other of the softwares. Too bad my computer is too slow to run most of them (Dreamweaver and Flash are the only decent speed ones). :(

yea, i like photoshop and illustrator a lot too, but thats about all the adobe stuff i've learned so far. i'm kinda interested in InDesign but our school isn't teaching it yet since quark still seems to be the standard. and flash seems fun, i need to learn a little more with it eventually...

GIMP. I can't believe you guys left out gimp on the list of programs. It does 80% of what photoshop does, runs on most operating sytems, and it's free. It also runs on slow computer, down to 200mhz, unlike photoshop 7 which only runs on win2k or xp.

Gimp homepage (http://www.gimp.org)

There's also an entire book about using gimp online, and it's free too.

i've really never used GIMP but photoshop was free for me too :). plus i'm going into the graphic design field and PS is the industry standard so that's what i had to learn.
