i have had an eclipse touchscreen installed with the power antennae unplugged in the down position. i decided today to clip the power back in to get the fm radio again. the antennae goes up but when i turn off the car, it wont go down. i attempted to unplug it hoping it will go down and no luck... any ideas???? i just want to get it down so i can keep it down. hahaha

Does the motor run or attempt to go down?

If it does not, its either a relay issue or a wiring issue.

If it does, the mast or flex gear may be damaged. I just recently took mine apart to repair it.

OEM antenna or aftermarket?

These two statements contradict each other.

If when it should be going down, you hear the motor turning, it's getting "the signal".

If when its suppose to go down you hear NOTHING, then it's not getting "the signal".

Just for grins, have you tried to put the OEM radio back in to see if it works the antenna? I recall many years ago installing an aftermarket radio and harness adapter to my 85 Supra and the antenna going up and not comming down. I knew nothing of electronics back then and so I had to take it somewheres to get fixed. It was in the way I had it wired up. A quick (less than 5 minute) change and it worked properly.

In the rare event of an antenna erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek immediate mechanical help to avoid long-term damage.

yeah it gets the signal to go up when i plugged in the power clip but when the car shuts off it doesn get the signal to go down.. somehow it has the constant up signal and no down signal.. i take the power plug off and plug it back it.. the motor will run in the up position only... i will have to try the old h/u ths coming weekend
