Yep just take out two screws for the surround piece. Then three screws that hold the cluster in and unplug old cluster. You will lose autolights, have to turn it on manually. Hvac will still work if you have your lights on.

Wow, thats kind of a bummer trade off...

Makes the LEDmod guage face and modifitation much more practical/ feature-ful and cost effective.

but the OP does have an OEM TRD cluster....... :headbang:

thanks for the confirmation on the auto on.

i never liked having auto on because when i pull out of my house or pull up to a friends house i can manually turn off the lights so i wont be glaring the house. especially now im about to install some oem hids. :D

 but does anyone have a clue as to why i lost my hvac lights?

im gonna sound smart for a second here, but just for a second since it JUST happened to me.... could be a blown pass transistor in the cluster. no joke lol. it apparently controls the hvac lights, as well as the leds on the oem radio and cig lighter bulb (not power, just the light in the cig plug)

on second thought, since youre losing auto on functions, maybe the jdm cluster is wired slightly different.

:confused:im a complete noob when it comes to electrical.

yeah i also forgot to mention i also lost my cigarette light as well. i dont have an OEM stereo. it works fine but turns off once in while. does this sound the same issue your having? if so how much is "pass transistor?"

good luck with yours

just a question is it worth getting a real Trd gauge or not ?

Certainly doesn't look like it in this case, does it? ;)

plus its in kmh only, so unless youre quick on your conversions or just feel like getting used to it, seems silly to me.
