The Kumho XS and the new Falken 615k are pretty legit for their price. Tires in the same category would the the Dunlop Z1 Star Spec, Bridgestone RE11, Yokohama AD08 and Hankook RS3.

For the street?
I'd take the Z1 over the XS mostly because of the difference in the wet performance.
If I knew it wasn't going to rain I'd use my V710's. I don't have any experience with the others.

You will compromise wet traction for better dry traction. From my experience, the Bridgestone RE050 POLE POSITION are an excellent tire! Daily driven with about 18k miles on them and still handle great! If you won't be seeing much wet days, then I'd recommend the Bridgestone RE-01Rs, Falken Azenis 615, and Toyo R888. But you also compromise treadlife with these high performance tires. So it's basically how much you want to trade off. These tires aren't cheap either...

I think the re01r was replaced by the re11 and the toyo r888 is a r-compound tire. The r888 is more along the lines of the advan ao48, nitto nt01 and michelin pilot sport cup. Those r-compounds are way too much for a daily driven celica.

He wasn't being specific. He said best performing. I just assumed it was for track use. If he's going to DD, I'd say Yoko S. Drives. I have them on my 5th gen and they've lasted me 1.5 years and I still have 60% tread. They're only like $85/ea.
Sumitomo HTR Z III and BF Goodrich G-Force Sport are my favorite street tires. They're not ultra aggressive, but they're grippy enough for any driving you'd be doing on the street, I give the edge to the Sumitomo but the G-Force is cheaper.
A Falken RT615, Kumho XS or Direzza Star Spec is ok on the street but they wear rapidly and don't have the wet performance you want on a street car.
Also keep in mind, none of the tires I've suggested will function below 40 degrees - you'll need to swap to snow tires in the winter.
