I have a 2000 celica gts auto/tiptronic. I got everything I am going to need for about $1600 SHIPPED and just need to get some money together for a shop to install. Can I get some opinions on wether or not this is a SAFE and reliable change ti make? The transmission (6spd) thats being installed only has a claimed 7,000 miles on it. My celica has about 48,000 miles on it and I just wanna make sure that after the $2-2500 I am gonna spend if I can expect this to give me NO problems if I take care of the car. I wan just going to sell my celica and get a 6spd but I only owe $10.000 on my celica and have invested like $8000 into it and dont wanna lose the money I have in the car. Give me some ideas guys.

Since there are only like two Celica's that have the auto to manual conversion, no one really knows for sure. I've heard of some Honda's that have had this done but I'm not sure of how reliable they are.

I work at a shop and we did a motor swap for a friend of mine who mis-shifted and blew his motors. We put a new motor in it that came from an auto GT-S. We actually dynoed the car and had some great results. We dynoed it at a higher WHP than most other Celica's with an intake like is in his. I would say it's pretty safe until you mis-shift of course. I'm actually doing the same thing. I'm just trying to locate the tranny now. Good luck.
