I was just looking through Ebay and dreaming about having a Supra. In any event, for those of you who work at body shops and the such, I was curious to know how much $$ it would take to convert a Celica with a sunroof to have a targa top like the Supra on Fast and the Furious. I know people have talked about it, but realistically, is it at all possible??? Thanks for the help. Around how much would it cost?

This has been discussed before....Basically It would ruin the structual integrity of the car. But...maybe a roll bar could be put in to compensate....

I have looked into it a little more locally to have it done and it would require a lot of work to reinforce everything so the structual integrity isn't compromised. I think i was told 3-4k

All I can say is it's another sad case of targa envy. I've seen it before. There's no real cure, but take solice in knowing how SWEET the ride was home last night during sunset with the top off and the air flowing through my Supra's cabin.

I might do the targa... its between that or a color change
.....

I'm talking next winter though.... but honestly I have looked into this a lot deeper.

Actually, one of the guys on Speed Options got a targa top put on his Integra. Not sure if you guys have mentioned this, but what they do is cut the roof off and find a car similar with targa tops and basically put that section of the car onto the car that's getting the targa transplant. 3-4K is pretty cheap. I think he got it done for 3K but he was sponsored too, otherwise it would have been closer to 7-8K. However, he did have a couple of other things done to it so maybe I'm off on that.

The process might have been more expensive as well :) I'll probably get more realistic estimates when i'm about to have it done.

integrity would be okay, but reinforcing everything would probably add a lot of weight:ugh: Unfortunately, low weight is one of the key aspects with this car..... i dunno, just my $.02... I think a 7th gen would look AMAZING with a targa, though... too bad I'd never be able to dish out that kinda $$$ just for that

I like the sunroof alone, the targe looks stupid IMO.

An opinion I can't agree with.

You know, I might actually try and look into the possibilties of this on mine. I have a sunroof, so that's a really big might. I'll have the resources tho. Maybe have the targa skin molded in carbon to save weight. Hmmmm.
