Have these ever been made before? Searched for a while now and can't find any. If anyone knows about the availability please post.
As for the reason to post under "fabrication", If I can't find any, i may just make a set as a project in the spring

People have had theirs wrapped before...no point in a solid carbon fiber door panel.

RWCustoms

it would be a project that i'd start in april, so its a ways away.
i already know i'm going to use a lot of supplies, material, and time due to the complexity of the panel. After I make a set and have the molds ready i'll post up if i can make them for a reasonable price

In the appearance mod section I posted a thread about fiberglass doors, hatches, front ends, and hoods. The guy also does carbon fiber, though it's more expensive.

So the weather finally turned around. Been 75 to 82 degrees the last few days.
This means i've been able to start my carbon stuff again. Unfortunately i dont think i will be creating the door panels since I am working on all the interior pieces at the moment, and may start making parts for local people.
I figured it would be right if i let you all know this rather than leaving the thread blank. Here are two pics of the console lid i just finished yesterday. Pics were taken with camera phone, sry.

Nice piece, but im not a fan of 1x1 twill. I have the carbign craft rear plate garnish in 1x1, i may make it in 2x2 just to make me happy lol.
RW is this with two layers of CF? I made the same piece with only one layer and it looks a bit different:

Your piece looks very nice man.
Mine is made with 1-2 layers depending on the curves. Any additional layers would thicken the piece too much.
Items made by different people will always look a little different. There are many factors that cuases these little differences, such as how the part is made (wet layup vs vacuum bagging), layers of carbon used, the way it is draped, the twill, thread count and weight, layers of epoxy/resin, sanding techniques, etc.

Joey, when you said real deal not wrapped . . . is it actually a standalone molded piece with the oem brackets etc integrated or is it an oem armrest with c/f wrapped "cloth resin etc" over?

It's not wrapped at all. It's a replacement piece that's made in carbon fiber.
Here's some pictures of it. It's not TopShop quality, but I'm satisfied with it.

The lid you have is wrapped too. Its wrapped over fiberglass.
If you search for carbon pieces for the celica they are all wrapped over fiberglass. It is nearly impossible to get a pure carbon piece.
Here is a list of carbon parts for celicas (and most other cars) that are wrapped over fiberglass:
Every hood available (Vis, Seibon, C-One, Carbon Creations, etc)
Every engine cover including "L", Fuse box, etc (IPT and Top Shop Carbon)
Headliner (Top Shop Carbon)
Pillars
Console Lid
Mirror Covers (Carbign Craft)
Rear Lisense plate Garnish (Carbign Craft)
Etc, etc, etc

For hoods I know Varis makes a dry carbon hood....way pricey though.
I always heard the IPT used real carbon for their engine plastics rather than fiberglass wrapped in CF?

I think for some reason there is confusion about what is real carbon fiber. A pure carbon part, dry carbon, fiberglass wrapped with carbon, or anything wrapped with carbon is real carbon fiber. Just the piece its wrapping is not.

Hey guys not trying to hijack this page but I have a question and idk if anybody can help me out here. I have an P
04 gt and unfortunately the interior door panel cloth part. Right above the arm rest is starting to come off (the cloth wrapping) so my question is, is there a way that I can take that out by itself, remove the cloth, clean it up from debri n what not and then wrap it w carbon fiber?

Nice..Was wondering if you could take a closer picture of the carbon fiber where the speaker is at? Did you also carbon fiber that part to or no?

The door panel is painted black. Flows into the carbon fiber knee panel. Then flows Bak to black paint on the center console.
