[QUOTE]Lamborghini Jota spied (Murcielago replacement)
January 15, 2010 by Alborz Fallah
When spy photographers get to have their way they tend to snap away some really impressive things. This just in from a secret test track for the Volkswagen/Audi group in northern Scandinavia is the brand new Lamborghini Supercar set to replace the ageing Murcielago.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/LamborghiniJota-01-625x413.jpg
In freezing temperatures our spy photographers have caught what many think is called the Jota, according to the photographer the new supercar had began its testing this week and it was finally snapped recently.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/LamborghiniJota-10-625x414.jpg
Physically its about the same size as the Murcielago but reports say it will sport a lighter frame and have even more power from its upgraded V12 powerplant with direct injection. Some say it will have at around 700 horsepower (520kW).
Part of weight saving is achieved by swapping the Murcielago

2012 Lamborghini Jota rendered (http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/2012-lamborghini-jota-rendered-ar85088.html)
This latest rendering gives us a new idea as to what the upcoming super car might look like. What we do know is that the 2012 Jota will feature a host of lightweight aluminum body parts, making it much lighter than its predecessor and will be powered by a brand new V12 producing around 700 HP.

Lamborghini Jota Caught Testing in Southern Europe (http://www.worldcarfans.com/110040825578/lamborghini-jota-caught-from-all-angles-testing-in-southern)
Visible details include big side air intakes and aerodynamic parts on the doors. Overall the Jota appears to sit lower than the Murcielago, and will presumably weighs less too, thanks to the use aluminium and carbon fibre. Styling inspiration is being provided by the Estoque concept and Reventon.
What will not change is the number of cylinders boasted by the engine. Suggestions point to a direct injection V12 possibly hosting around 700 horses in its bowels. Drive should be through all four wheels using the Haldex AWD system.

New details on the future Lamborghini Jota (http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/new-details-on-the-future-lamborghini-jota-ar89389.html)
The 2012 Jota will be powered by a 7.0-liter V12 engine that will produce in excess of 700bhp and 700Nm of torque (there are voices suggesting it will be 720 HP). The car will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds, while top speed will be in the 225 mph area. The engine will be mated to a seven-speed, paddleshift automated manual gearbox.
Despite this impressive number, the next Jota will be an even more economical car: it will have a fuel consumption of just 12 liters / 100 km.
The new supercar will be designed in house and will feature a carbon fiber chassis and various carbon body parts which help reduce the weight of the car. It will also come with Audi’s torque vectoring technology which offers even better handling.
Besides the aforementioned features, the Jota will come with all the Lamborghini trademarks: lambo scissors doors, a leather/Alcantara/carbon fiber combo on the interior, and a head-up display.

The Next Big Thing - Murcielago successor details! (http://www.teamspeed.com/forums/murcielago-gallardo/42045-next-big-thing-murcielago-successor-details.html)
"The presentation of the Murcielago successor to the dealers and VIP customers will take place in July. All official specs and the official name will be revealed in July to the dealers. Official public launch is supposed to happen at Paris auto show this fall.
There are no new rumors about specs, everything being repeated once and again. CF chassis, probably the monocell, think of MP4-12C but a bit different. New direct-injection V12 good for 700 hp or even slightly more with 0-100 km/h rumored to be around 3.0 seconds and top speed around 370 km/h.
Body will feature some style clues from Reventon, but it will be all-new concept with clear Lamborghini DNA. Car will be shorter than current Murcielago Also, traditional scissor doors are sacrificed to low weight, which is rumored to be below 1500 kg, doors will open in a bit different way to the side first and only then go up. New 21" wheels and upgraded Brembo CC brake system.
Price is to settle around current LP640 price."

They went to some crazy lengths to get the weight down - would be interesting to see how they would price it as is.

Don't think of it as a finished article, as traditionally Lambrghini reveal ALL of their production models at Geneva usually. This is more a roling concept, a visualization of the future direction for the brand, the characteristics that may form part of the new models and an expression of where Lamborghini are headed.
Personally I like a lot of the styling cues. Some of the touches are gorgeous. The hood especially and sideways on the styling is spot on for me. The fact that it's constructed largely from carbon fibre (incl load bearing braces, wheels, monocoque etc) bodes well as does the new Lamborghini Manifesto which points to acceleration and handling playing much more of a role than top speeds. Mind you, with that said, I think I'll eat my hat if any Lambo ever delivers on <1000kg kerb weight lol
The Jota pics interest me more, active aerodynamics on the big car, that's new for them. I'm sure that all will come good in time... Lamborghini is the world's greatest marque. They will not disappoint!

OK, after having a long hard look at the 'Jota' spied lapping the 'Ring lately and then having seen the Sesto Elemento shots from Paris I'm now more convinced than ever that the 'Jota' is in fact an almost production ready Sesto Elemento in disguise. Particularly obvious around the windows and doors. The wheelbase fits, the covers on the rear seem to hide greatly reccessed lights (which also fits) and that leads me to think that maybe the 'Sesto Elemento' is really almost ready to land! Maybe not such a concept car after all?
So, what I've done is compose a little animation that might help....

2012 Lamborghini Jota: Here are some new spy photos (http://www.speedlux.com/2012-lamborghini-jota-murcielago-new-spy-photos-video/)
Looking at the spy photographs and the videos you would be able to interpret that the sports car manufacturer, Lamborghini, is not likely to make any changes in the ‘wedgy’ styling. This ‘ Wedgy’ styling language, in fact, has become the hallmark of the automaker’s supercars right since the debut of the Countach. Notably Lamborghini’s Countach was first formally introduced in 1970s.
While experts are not clear about the extent to which Lamborghini can go lighter but they claim that the super sports car, which is the Italian firm’s flagship supercar, will be powered by a more powerful V12 engine. This v12 power plant will churn out over 670HP of power for Murcielago LP 670-4. The car also sports all the latest advancements in technology not limited to direct-injection engines. Experts and automobile analysts believe that the Italian automaker will soon come up with an all-wheel drive sports vehicle for its fans.

Lamborghini Murcielago Replacement: 700 Horsepower 6.5 Liter V12, Seven-Speed Automated Manual (http://blogs.insideline.com/straightline/2010/11/lamborghini-murcielago-replacement-700-horsepower-65-liter-v12-seven-speed-automated-manual.html)
We've seen the spy photos and we've even had spy video of what's rumored to be called the Jota. And now we've got specs on the motor.
Bucking the new trend towards 'green' and 'responsible' smaller displacement, higher tech, forced induction motors, Lamborghini is sticking with what they know. The new motor is a 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated direct-injection job which is estimated at 700 horsepower and 690 nm of torque. While this is the same size in liters, look at it in CCs and you'll see the LP86X's (code name for the new Lambo) L539 motor (more code) is 6,498cc whereas the V12 was 6,496 in the Murcielago. Thirty more HP and only 2 more CCs? Deal.
The new 60-degree banked V12 is also smaller than before measuring 26.2 inches high, 33.4 inches wide, 30.9 inches long and 518 lbs.
Power flows to all four wheels and in between those wheels and the engine is, in Lambo's terms, an ISR (independent shifting rod) seven-speed autoclutch manual. The new Graziano unit improves all around drivability and boasts shifts which are 50 percent faster than any double-clutch on the market and 40 percent faster than their own E-Gear.

Lamborghini announces new 6.5-litre V12 and seven-speed gearbox
By Brett Davis | November 16th, 2010
Lamborghini is getting ready to launch its new flagship model dubbed the Lamborghini Jota next year, and with the new car comes a new engine. It’s an all-new 6.5-litre V12 outputting 525kW of power and 690Nm of torque. The new engine, codenamed the L539, is all about lightness, power and high revs.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/lamborghini-aventador-motor-cambio-625x416.jpg
The engine, Lamborghini says, is the perfect size for a 12 cylinder. If it was any larger the pistons would become too heavy, the company says, so it is built with optimum response in mind. The engine also uses four throttle bodies which help provide that distinctively deep Lamborghini roar.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/lamborghini-aventador-cambio-625x416.jpg
Another key aspect to the new engine is its lightness. The entire V12 ensemble weighs just 235kg by using exotic light-weight materials, such as aluminium-silicon alloy for the crankcase and the sand-cast heads. The crankshaft is forged and nitride-hardened and weighs just 24.6kg as well.
Overall dimensions of the pistons mean this baby will rev and rev fast. The bore measures 95mm while the stroke is just 76.4mm. This oversquare design results in less piston travel while still providing a sizeable explosion thanks to the wide bore size. Lamborghini says the engine will have a redline of 8250rpm.
Another new element to the engine is the all-new seven-speed gearbox. It uses ISR technology, or Independent Shifting Rods. Lamborghini says this robotised shifting means gear changes can be done in up to 50 percent less time than a conventional dual-clutch gearbox, and 40 percent faster than the Lamborghini Gallardo e-Gear transmission. This is also made with strength and minimum weight in mind and uses carbon fibre synchronising rings.
Lamborghini recently released a video of the new engine being assembled and tested. Check it out below.

Another pic based on spy shots.
Lamborghini Jota/Aventador Spy CGI
By Paul Maric | December 17th, 2010
The Murcielago has been Lamborghini’s halo answer to the supercar world for years, but it’s set to be replaced by another fine beast that will carry on its position at the top of the Lamborghini pecking order.
Rumours suggest it could be named the Jota (pronounced with a ‘y’ sound for the ‘J’) or Aventador, it’s set to feature Lamborghini’s all new directly injected V12 engine – a 6.5-litre V12. Lamborghini says the new V12 produces a staggering 525kW and 690Nm of torque. The new engine will certainly give the Murcielago successor some added pep in its step.
Also likely to receive a substantial change is the 0-100km/h time. The new seven-speed gearbox uses ISR (Independent Shifting Rods), which allows shift times of up to 50% quicker than a conventional dual-clutch gearbox and 40% faster than Lamborghini’s current e-gear system. The Jota will of course be all-wheel-drive.
Rumours surrounding lightweight panels are also circulating, paving the way for a reduction in the currently portly 1600kg+ kerb weight.
A release date (or even recognition by Lamborghini of the car’s existence) is yet to be announced, but we’re tipping on it being mid-late 2011.
Until the all-new Murcielago successor is released, we can only dream – and look at our Computer Generated Image, which points us to the styling direction of the all-new car.

We already know a lot about the new Aventador LP700-4, thanks in part to leaks and Lamborghini drip-feeding information in the run up to the car’s debut at the 2011 Geneva motor show. The chassis is carbonfibre, and mid-mounted within it is a direct-injection 6.5-litre V12 with 691bhp at 8250rpm and 509lb ft at 5500rpm. Via an all-new seven-speed automated manual transmission, the big twelve-cylinder engine drives all four wheels.
Beyond that there is forged aluminium double wishbones suspension with a pushrod set-up, and a nose-lift system that raises the front suspension by 40mm. At the front there are 255/35 19-inch tyres and 400mm carbon-ceramic discs with six-piston calipers, and at the rear there are 335/30 20s with 380mm carbon-ceramic discs with four-piston calipers.

2011 Lamborghini Aventador monocoque chassis revealed
By Brett Davis | February 14th, 2011
Lamborghini has released details about its next new top-shelf supercar and its monocoque chassis. The Lamborghini Aventador has been in the making for a couple of years now, but the company is finally getting ready to unveil the brand new model, teasing us with the finer details.
http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Lamborghini-Aventador-monocoque-625x461.jpg
Lamborghini has revealed the new Lamborghini Aventador will feature a monocoque platform made entirely of carbon fibre, which is both very light in weight and very strong – overall weight of the single shell is just 147.5kg. Lamborghini says the new single shell was created completely in-house using Lamborghini’s patented carbon fibre formation technology.
This means the new supercar will not only be as light as possible, but it will also be extremely rigid. During testing procedures of the new chassis, Lamborghini found that the carbon monocoque could withstand up to 35,000Nm per degree of rotational force. Translated onto the driver, it means the new car will be very precise on the road offering super-accurate steering and chassis response.
The suspension, including the new push rod rear suspension layout, will also be able absorb and communicate road characteristics more efficiently thanks to the rigid new design, leaving, what is expected to be, one tight and taught package.
Lamborghini has officially announced the new Lamborghini Aventador will be unveiled in full at the Geneva Motor Show taking place from March 1 in just a few week’s time.
Its official 1 week to go until we see the real thing!
Also i'm amazed at how light that shell is.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 First Look (http://www.insideline.com/lamborghini/aventador/2012/2012-lamborghini-aventador-lp700-4.html)
Despite the ultra-lightweight chassis, by the time Lamborghini added everything else, the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador ended up at 3,472 pounds — 22 more than the old Murcielago SV and only 198 pounds lighter than the Murcielago LP650-4. It's better than being heavier, but it's a far cry from the 400 pounds of weight savings that was being talked about only half a year ago.
With 690 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque, the new motor is not only more powerful and lighter than the old engine, it revs all the way to 8,250 rpm and is strong enough to launch the Aventador from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds. Top speed? Lamborghini officially says it's 217 mph, though engineers admit to seeing more than that in testing.

First Drive: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador (http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/driven/1104_lamborghini_aventador_first_drive/index.html)
So, initial impressions: The Aventador does not rewrite everything you think you knew about Lamborghini. In fact, it takes all the brutality of the Murcielago and amps it up. (With the exception that the new transmission doesn't get confused at low speeds, like the Murcie's did -- that car would lurch and stutter and make Lewis Hamilton look like a student of Magoo Driving School when you were just trying to pull away from a stop.) The Aventador can shift hard, to let you know it has gears. Its V-12 howls on the throttle and burps thunderclaps on the overrun. And the car looks like Satan's midlife crisis.
Because what did you expect? The scissor-door V-12 Lambo is now a franchise just like the Porsche 911, and the goal was not to mess it up. I'm happy to report that they didn't.
2012 Lamborghini Aventador: AW Flash Drive Car Review (http://www.autoweek.com/article/20110429/CARREVIEWS/110429848)
What is it like to drive?
From the instant you flip up the red ignition-button cover and punch the Aventador's 12 raucous cylinders to life, you know you're in the cockpit of a special machine The car's performance is stunning yet surprisingly sane--even at warp speed on a track. On laps around the 2.8-mile, 12-turn Vallelunga track near Rome, we ran the car through each operating mode: strada, sport and corsa, with the middling sport mode providing the best mix of handling and driveability. Corsa cranks up shift actuation to a severe slam, which can seem unsettling compared with the more refined action in sport mode.
It takes just a few turns in the Aventador to quickly become comfortable with the power and control available at your fingertips. Pushing hard into corners can induce initial understeer, but the all-wheel-drive differential reacts quickly to shift power away from the front and allows the back wheels to break their grip long enough to straighten the line. The net effect is a driveability that seems natural and competent, despite having 690 hp on tap.
Lamborghini Aventador review (http://www.autocar.co.uk/CarReviews/FirstDrives/Lamborghini-Aventador-6.5-V12/256739/)
What’s it like?
Outrageous is the word that keeps on popping into one’s mind when attempting to describe what this car is actually like. As with the Murcielago, the doors open upwards to reveal a cabin that initially seems a very long way away, the high-backed driver’s seat nestling just inches above the ground.
But when you climb inside the similarities between old and new come to an abrupt end. The interior of the Aventador is every bit as new and revolutionary as its engine, gearbox or suspension. And, mostly, it works as good as it looks.
Whether the new digitised instruments will receive universal approval will remain a talking point for years to come, you suspect, but the basic ergonomics inside are hugely better than in the Murcielago. Not only is the driving position much better organised, with pedals that are no longer angled in towards the centre of the car, there’s also more room for your head and elbows plus better visibility in all directions.
And yet it still feels unequivocally like a Lamborghini inside this car, especially when you discover the start button beneath its bright red cover within the centre console, and then summon the courage to give it a prod. Do so and you’ll hear a familiarly charismatic scream from the starter motor, followed by a quite outrageous eruption of revs when the engine fires. As if climbing into a bright red Lamborghini via one of its vast scissor-doors isn’t somehow theatrical enough on its own.
Even at five miles an hour this car sounds and feels fantastically alive beneath your backside. To begin with the steering seems lighter and a lot less cumbersome than you remember, the ride massively more refined (than in a Murcielago). The entire car, in fact, feels more mature than you were expecting given the history.
But the big news, inevitably, concerns the performance, and I can tell you here and now that it is astonishing – to the extent that you do not just climb aboard this car and nail its throttle to the floor at the first sign of a decent road. You build up to that moment, slowly, and discover other things about this incredible car en route.
Like how explosive its throttle response is, even at 4000rpm, and how switching between its various drive modes (strada, sport and corsa) alters not just the gearchange speed and severity but the crispness of the engine mapping as well. Which, as you’ll eventually discover later, will allow you to do things on the throttle in this car that you’d never even dreamed of doing in a Murcielago.
And then there’s the gearshift itself, which Lamborghini claims is 40 per cent swifter than a Gallardo Superlegerra’s, making it “one of the world’s fastest ever automated gearboxes”.
It’s not a dual clutch system but it does pre-select ratios, so the effect is almost the same – in theory. In practice, however, it’s a long way from swapping ratios as quickly or as smoothly as a Ferrari 458 or McLaren MP4-12C. As ever, Lamborghini has engineered the shifts to feel as dramatic as possible. In corsa mode you get a mighty thump in the back on upshifts and a huge burst of revs on downshifts. Which is great when you’re in the mood for it but not always 100 per cent desirable.
Having said that, it’s difficult NOT to be in the mood for it when you’ve got 690bhp of V12 thundering away behind your head, plus one of the best balanced mid-engined chassis’ in existence through which to deploy it. And when you do finally let rip in the Aventador, the most surprising discovery is that it’s nowhere near as terrifying as you thought it might be.
The acceleration and the noise are monstrous in every way, and the brakes nigh-on race car powerful when you really lean on them, but there’s a fundamental composure to the driving experience that makes the Aventador seem unusually friendly for a big, hairy Lambo.
The steering is so light yet so precise, the handling balance so well resolved, you can take huge liberties with this car without feeling like you’re on the verge of an accident. So long as you respect just how rapidly it accelerates, in fact, it’s actually a pretty easy thing to drive hard. Much more so than the ‘will it, won’t it’ Murcielago ever was.
Lamborghini Aventador Driven (http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/firstdrives/267286/lamborghini_aventador_driven.html)
New flagship packs a 691bhp V12, sensational styling and carbon-fibre throughout, but is it worthy of the badge?
First thing first, the Aventador is as explosively fast, loud and jaw-dropping to look at as we’d all hoped. In other words it has all the bedroom poster appeal of its predecessors. But while the mid-mounted V12 and four-wheel drive formula is tried and tested this car is right at the pinnacle of supercar technology. Masses of carbon-fibre and aluminium make it lighter than its rivals, while F1 push rod suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and the lighting fast ISR gearbox make it hugely capable at high speeds. Interestingly though, in its softest setting it’s a much less intimidating machine than the Murcielago and could therefore be driven more often, which for a car as thrilling as this, is good news.

First Drive: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/04/29/2012-lamborghini-aventador-lp700-4-first-drive-review-road-test/)
We get our 2012 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4s exactly when the rest of the world gets theirs: this September, with a base price of $390,700, which includes America's gas-guzzling wrist-slap fee. Company bosses assure us that they have sold 18 months' worth of production already, or around 1,200 cars. We asked them point-blank how many of these were actual customer cars and they piped back, "All but the one each of our 125 dealers worldwide needs to buy to have on-hand for test drives and display purposes." So, that's nearly 1,100 legitimate sales to the world's hypercar elite.
What pleases most is that the Aventador strikes us as a bold and pure romagnola Lamborghini (i.e. from the heart of the Emilia-Romagna region), one that's utterly Italian and not at all a Ferrari or Porsche or Audi wannabe in any way. This was important both for Lamborghini and its customers, and Sant'Agata has hit the bull's eye.

Rumors of an Aventador Roaster debut at the Geneva Motor Show failed to live up to the inventive minds at Lamborghini.
Rather than just a conventional drop-top, leaked photos have revealed a completely roofless version of the coupe, without even a windscreen – or at least not much of one. The car is reportedly called the Aventador J and it’s likely that Lambo will show both a conventional Roadster model as well as this concept.

Mansory Lamborghini Aventador stuns at Geneva show
IN 2012 GENEVA MOTOR SHOW MARCH 8, 2012 AT 9:09 PM
The Lamborghini Aventador doesn’t really need tampering with. For those who want more though, meet the Mansory Lamborghini Aventador, just unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.
http://performancedrive.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Mansory-Lamborghini-Aventador-1-630x430.png
If you’ve got a high school reunion coming up, this would have to be the ultimate look-how-impressive-I-am vehicle to roll up in. It’s so dramatic from every angle, especially at the back. Seeing one on the street could potentially have onlookers stopping in their tracks, with their jaws on the ground.
Mansory doesn’t really do engine performance upgrades all that much, it more specialises in visual modifications. Extreme interior and exterior modifications that is. And the Mansory Lamborghini Aventador is no different.
It features a full bodykit – yes, a bodykit for a Lambo – with new front and rear bumper bars, side skirts, and a new rear spoiler and cyber space diffuser and vents. There’s also exposed bits of carbon fibre pointing out from the front, and an exposed roof and A-pillars.
http://performancedrive.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Mansory-Lamborghini-Aventador-2-630x421.png
The Mansory Lamborghini Aventador rolls on super-lightweight forged alloy wheels that feature carbon inserts. These measure 9 x 21 inches on the front, and a massive 13 x 21 inches on the back, wrapped in 255/30 ZR20 and 345/25 ZR21 tyres, respectively.
Mansory couldn’t leave it at that, so the interior also gets a complete makeover, with reupholstered leather seats, leather dashboard trimmings, and a new carbon fibre steering wheel. There’s also new aluminium pedals.
Still not satisfied with the overall package, something had to be done about the engine power output. So Mansory retuned the ECU to give it an extra 40kW and an extra 60Nm, resulting in 555kW and 750Nm.
Thanks to the revisions 0-100km/h can now be handled in just 2.8 seconds, while top speed is 355km/h.
No word has been mentioned on pricing. This kind of performance is obviously for the mega rich enthusiast. Simply gob-smacking.
No idea what that paint is buts its blindingly shiny, some sort of super metallic?

The "left rear wheel on fire" points to a non-collision incident, although it's too early to speculate what caused it.
The vehicle in question apparently belongs to a dealership (which explains the special plates) and spontaneously combusted while out on a test drive with the calm Interent venture capitalist in the photo.
Lamborghini is "trying to figure out what happened."

Lamborghini Aventador Chocolate LP777-4 by Wheelsandmore (http://www.autoevolution.com/news/lamborghini-aventador-chocolate-lp777-4-by-wheelsandmore-44798.html)
Wheelsandmore have taken the mightiest of all the Raging Bulls to the max with a new tuning package called the Lamborghini Aventador Chocolate LP777-4 after the new output of the car and the cool chocolate brown color they came up with.
The Aventador engine tuning package includes two stages of tune, one of which adds only 30 hp, the other coming with a new ECU map and high performance air box and steel exhaust system to get you that extra 77 hp that makes the name of the car sound godly.
On this particular Aventador, Wheelsandmore fitted one of their own 6 Sporz² Forged alloys sized 20-inch up front and 21 round the back.
