How many amp channels are there for the stock dack? 4 or 6 channels? how many watts/channel? and voltage on the preamp? 2v or 4v?

I'm thinking changing to a high-end pioneer dack! now, can I still run stock 8 speakers into 4 channels? I know the sound quality will be better but, is it worth it to spend 700 bucks on the dack?

well i don't really know what you're talking about.

but there's 4 channels total. "8 speakers" if you want to call them that, are 3 way components basically up front and then rears. all three speakers up front are run off one channel each side, they are just crossed over so that one gets bass, one gets mid, one gets treble.

are you asking about the stock head unit or the stock amp or what? the headunit to amp setup is kinda proprietary in that its pretty hard to switch out with other stuff. the amp should be 2 channels though.

There are 6 channels on the amp

2 front mid/high(Powers 4 speakers)
2 front full range
2 Rear full range

I dont' think there are 6 channels on the stock dack! if there is that means some of the channels are not used! It could be used for the subwoofer

I just don't think there are 6 channels on the stock dack! can someone else confirm with this? I mean 4 channels is pretty good already. However, 6 channel on the stock dack? :nono:

Ok, first of all (and correct me if I am wrong here) but I believe the correct spelling is deck (not dack)....
anyways.....
The deck itself doesnt really have any channels per say... its only a pre-amp... thats why we have a 6 channel amp also.
I dont know that wattage per channel off hand... maybe do a search?

The Premium system has 4 channel pe-amp output from the deck. The amp it feeds has 6 channels as listed above.

I think it is a total of 200watts for all 6 channels. Don't know how balanced it is.

interesting!

most car stereo deck out there has 4 channels x 45w build-in (less powerful) amps; thre are really amps however it's not as good as a real amp unit. 2 RCA Preouts(2-4V) and sub preout(4-6V)
. I know my sh!t coz I am a stereophile for home theater. Just not a car stereo guy yet, coz I don't want to spend too much $ on the car stereo!

well, if your ear is anything like mine I think youll find that the stock system is actually quite satisfactory.... unless you require very high volumes or large amounts of bass....
But especially with the 'hidden' midrange control.... I like the stock system a lot, and have no plans to change it.

Oh and you're a "stereophile for hometheater"??
Am I the only one who sees the contradiction there?

haha...
I am into both stereo and hometheater, but not car stereo yet!
