I am thinking to get a BBK ( 6 pot/330 or 4 pot/303) for the front. However, I am running GT which has drum brake on the rear. I am afraid of ungrading the front brake will cause weird uncomfortable feeling while braking since the brake force on the front was lots greater than rear. I am not planning to change the rear to disk cause it's too much trouble. Is getting BBK a good idea for my GT? Need your suggestions, thanks

No.

6 pot is way too big for your car and I seriously doubt you'll be needing that much stopping power anyways. It's overkill. Get some pads, lines, fluid first. Upgrade rotors too if you really feel like you need it but a BBK is over the top and like you said, will throw off your brake balance.

If you really want to get the Kit get it, i don't think it'll mess up the brake balance that much.

you have to remember that you still have the OE master cylinder and proportioning valve, so I think you'll be fine.

Why does your GT need so much stopping power?

like stated above its overkill, unless ur wanting a BBK for the looks. buy a good set of pads & rotors, upgrade to SS braided brake lines, and a DOT4 fluid. i run hawk pads w/ Brembo blank rotors, Goodridge SS braided brake lines and Motul RBF 600 and it stops great on the track. and yes i too drive a GT :gap:

it doesnt wit a half decent driver behind the wheel, but everyone wants the next best thing. doesnt mean that next best thing was a wise purchase....

:werd:

Too often people focus on making the most power or having the biggest BBK they can find or the largest GT wing for MAXIMUM downforce. :ugh: At the end of the day, a well-balanced car in all areas will trump any of those on the track.

Thanks everyone. I decided to go with TRD brake pad and brake line. I did some research, most people recommend Stoptech over Goodridge. However, Stoptech only offers the front for GT. Goodridge had a set for both front and rear. Which one should I get? Stoptech for front or Goodridge for both front and rear.

Pads first, I've heard good things about Hawk HPS pads, don't know much about the TRD set though.

I run stoptech lines, but I have a GT-S rear disc conversion.

trd is a good pad. you'll defiantly notice a difference. and there quite. and the break in is fun.
